I do hope the FA, Premier league, Sky or whoever is actually in charge will be handing out a hefty fine, like we just received, to the 30-40 thousand Tottenham fans who keep chanting “Yid army”, isn’t anti semitism as bad or, in the current political climate, worse than homophobia?
    Or maybe it’s just us??

Not sure how Yid Army, which is pro Jewish, would be anti-Semitic?

Cultural misappropriation maybe, but definitely not what you suggest.

The word Yid is derogatory to the Jewish.

Indeed. And it wa used in a derogatory manner towards Spurs due to a perceived Jewish following.

It was then adopted by Spurs in an affirmative way, much in the way the N word was adopted by African Americans and the P word by Gay men.

So like you say, know your facts. And own your ignorance.

But don't take my word for it...

In the case of Tottenham Hotspur, rival fans chanted antisemitic abuse including 'Yids' against Tottenham fans. In response some Jewish and non-Jewish fans of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. adopted "Yid" (or "Yiddo") as a nickname and "Yiddo, Yiddo!" as a battle cry and often identify themselves as "Yid Army

I think it's inappropriate because the majority of them are not Jewish, and ideally they wouldn't chant it, but clearly their intention is not to offend so no it shouldn't be punished.
