    Amari Bell

I fear his single footedness is catching him out at this level.

Both today's goal and the Burnley goal came from someone cutting across him.

If he steps his right side out he blocks the shot....

I thought he looked good but if hed have touched the goal scorer hed have been sent off.
First game back he will be slightly rusty.

Whilst it's true what you say about players cutting in, it was Burke beaten against Burnley, not Bell.

Surprised Burke was playing on left.

We've just won our first home game in the top flight for 30 years and you want to dig a player out?

More importantly, Alesha Dixon or Amanada Holden?

You don't think it was a poor goal to concede?

I mean great strike, but he should never have been allowed to get in that position.

Bell has been great but professional footballers should not be that one footed.

Not particularly. Some times you've got to just hold your hands up and say 'that was good' when talking of what other players do. Especially in this league.

It was just in front of me. It was just absolute quality wing play. No blame on Bell whatsoever.

Posted by Sick Boy on 25/11/2023, 20:20:18, in reply to "Re: Amari Bell"

Not sure of that. Bell could have easily kept showing him down the line. Olise can barely stand on his right foot. And he wasn't killing himself to block the shot either once he's been beaten on his inside.
                    A lazy bit of defending.

Quality quality finish of course. But if you gives players of that class that much room you'll pay.

I get what you are saying but as a full back you are coached to show the winger inside. Bell did that but what an amazing finish.

Posted by Doctor Ince on 26/11/2023, 8:40:53, in reply to "Re: Amari Bell"

It was right in front of me as well and while it was quality from Olise, Bell should be doing better.

He was beaten twice and then was nowhere near the shot.

No point showing wingers inside nowadays, that's what they want to do

Not great coaching then. Showing players onto their stronger foot? Since when has that been in the coaching manual?
Let's hope we don't do the same in upcoming games against Saka and Foden. Or we'll be in for a long afternoon.

I'm probably a lot older than you . As a full back you always wanted to show your winger inside.

Suppose its a lot different these days with inverted wingers.

                              Let's see the highlights though.....

You're probably not that much older. I agree, but in those days you played right footed players on the right.
The modern trend is back to front. I still think Edwards got it slightly wrong in the set up yesterday. Ogbene looks far more dangerous on the right where he can basically skin his marker and cross it. The earlier ball has to suit Morris more too

Agreed. Olise tried to cross with the outside of his left foot rather than trust his right, early second half and ballsed it up. For the goal, Bell, prepped before the game, bought a cheap trick and turned the wrong way to leave Olise space to shoot with his left

I think so too. Looked like he was struggling at 70 mins but held it really well against a very talented player. Left nothing out there like all of them.
                              Amanda Holden for me

I think with Giles he was brought in to the club to supply Eli and Morris with good deliveries into the box. I think after getting beat in the first three games we changed to one up top and we went to become a more solid defensively and Giles certainly isn't that.

Giles: I recall fans of other clubs remarking on the poor/weak defensive side of his game, hopefully this is something being worked on.

Still plenty of games left for an 'improved' Giles to make some appearances

What little we have seen of him, he looked so dangerous going forward. Would really like see a random start when the opposition don't expect it.
