Today. Not good enough

A lucky point against a team who’ll be fighting relegation and played with 10 men for most of the game. Nowhere near good enough to have any chance of staying up. Let’s not delude ourselves. Some people saying it was a good point? Really? If we have any aspirations of staying up games like today are must win. The season is obviosuly not done yet but let’s be honest, anything less than a win at Goodison Park is a disaster.
No offence but that is one of the most stupid posts I've ever seen on this board. No wonder you have hid by an alias.
95% know we are likely to go down. What we want to see is a bit of heart and progression. If you didn't see that today then you are the one that is truly 'deluded'
I’m a very occasional poster but regular reader of the board.
What’s stupid is people kidding than elves that a draw at home Against 10 men relegation rivals is a good result.
Some people would accept us losing every week because we used to be shit a few years ago we should be thankful to be playing the likes of mighty Wolves.
Trouble is nothing is guaranteed though. Sheff Utd have spent nearly £60 million across a couple of premier league seasons on 3 strikers - McBurnie, Brewster and Archer. They got relegated last time, may well get relegated this time and would probably recoup a tiny fraction of what they spent on McBurnie and Brewster if they sold them now.
Overall I agree with you but the context is that we had zero points so just getting something was really important to demonstrate that we can compete in this league. The penalty was obviously lucky although overall we had far more chances. The main thing for me is that we are starting to look a bit better defensively (only 2 conceded in last 2 games). We can't score which is killing us now - I just don't understand how so many good balls into the box get no return
Lockyer was hopelessly caught out for their goal though. The lack of pace at the back is worrying. How we didn’t win the game is still a mystery, we were sensational first half.
Difficult with so many defenders in the box and only 2 of out attackers We need to actually commit and move towards the ball rather than let it just fall to us!
We are far from a club in crisis but with regard to this season and any hope of staying up, we are bang in it and anyone who doesn’t think so is kidding themselves on.
Seem a lot more composure defensively and less easy turnovers in midfield. The players seem like they are actively being told to think when they get the ball and not just charge forward (perhaps no Chong is helping in that regard). Scoring wise we are totally shit - the off side goal was an interesting example when we try to play with some quality in the final third rather than pass out wide and cross it in
That offside goal was interesting. IIRC it was Ogbene nutmegging their defender (rather than always going on the outside of his man) who played it in and after it came back out to him I initially thought he was way offside. But on the replay it looked far more marginal.
