Stick a bit of salad and some garlic mayo on it and after a few beers I don't think I would be bothered.

problems come from the animals at the other end of the lead. if there even is a lead.

the clowns will just move to another breed which will be the next devil dog.

Broadly I agree...it was staffies a few years ago and dobermans before that. In this case it does seem the breed was bred to be particularly aggressive though.

A gathering doesn't strike me as a great idea either way though. There's going to be an idiot owner whose idiot dog attacks another dog

Generally speaking owners who go to events to socialise their dogs also look after them.

I'm currently coming to terms with accepting a rescue jack russell into my home. he's clearly not learnt how to behave around other dogs and this then affects how I train him to behave like a normal dog. I won't be taking him to the xl bully party because he would try and start a fight. The media would blame the XL bully and not my little bastard though wouldn't they?

as crumpsall says, dogs should be licensed. I'd go one step further and treat an attack by a dog as being equivalent to an assault with a deadly weapon. Might stop some drug dealers using a dog instead of a knife.

I really don't understand why dog licencing was dropped. It at least gave some measure of control.

Poor animals are being weaponised by lowlifes.

About 33 years ago i was having lunch with a girlfriend in Londons Victoria park ,i heard a heartbreaking noise from a dog with his throat in a fighting dogs mouth. Never forgot it. I blame the owner but i bet to this day he owns similar breeds

Yep not just aggressive dogs some people aren't fir to own any dog.

                        Definitely.

They're used as legal weapons by thugs and drug dealers currently.

I don't think that people with 'ordinary' dogs should have to put up with aggressive or ignorant owners with their 'oh, he/she won't do any harm' lies or outright intimidation either.

It doesn't help that they don't need a licence, and that there are so few police on the beat (if any,
I don't mean powerless 'community' officers).

If there was ever a symbol of a country going to the dogs, this is it.

A breeder was interviewed on radio other day and replied "drug dealers" when asked who he sold to.
