    Boro and the Giles/Akpon situation

Posted by Harpenden Estate Agent on 20/9/2023, 11:24:28

    Ajax already want him gone.

Suffice to say Giles hasn’t impressed us yet.

    Boro rock bottom without.

Funny old game when some players work at some clubs and others not.

Still early days and hopefully Ryan can shut the doubters up after his hat trick of assists ok Saturday.

Giles has looked very good on the ball so far, needs to do better without it.

        Crikey.

Anyone with eyes can see theres a player in there with Giles, and he has one of the best, consistent deliveries from the left i can ever remember of any player or team.
He´s clearly not the finished article and has work to do on his defensive side, but generally i´ve only been impressed by him. In attack he is a serious weapon. Edwards needs to find the way to best deploy it.

After, I think it was, three games, I saw a stat about accurate crosses and Giles was the second best in the PL. When you allow for the game in hand on most clubs, that is impressive. Maybe, he isn't playing in his ideal position and needs to play further forward?

Watching him with my own eyes, his delivery has been very poor so far, particularly from corners.

Left midfield in a 442, with Doughty or Bell behind?

                yep

dont see anything wrong with a good old fashioned 442. Out of fashion, but doesnt mean its wrong

              No, it's because he's crap.

Allan Campbell and Joe Taylor would definitely have done better.

agreed. He possibly needs relieving of some of his defensive duties, and be allowed to provide ammunition for the front pairings.

I'd give him more than 4 games before making a judgement. It took Thierry Henry a season to get up to pace with top flight football.

Call me harsh but he doesn't have the luxury of a season to get up to pace
