For anyone who actually understands this stuff I think you will appreciate that this will impact both our future generations and the wider world.

All to placate the Anderson’s and Jenkyns’s.

Places the BBC in right mess and any organisation/business who have placed Net Zero as a key business strategy.

Only problem is it takes a huge amount of electricity to produce, so still need to generate the electricity somehow

Total rubbish.
a) Climate change is real but man made impacts are debatable. Man made carbon is a tiny proportion of the atmospheric mix
b) I suggest you read some history books - a thousands years ago Warwick was too hot for people to live in the summer for example
c) The UK percent of global emissions is tiny but even more to the point the measures targeting emissions are basically penalising the poor first - that is totally the wrong way round - focus on the rich first
d) you are posting on a football forum and surely football is the biggest waste of carbon - bunch of 20 year old millionaires chasing a spherical object around - travelling up and down the country and around the world to do so and encouraging millions of fans to do the same.

What people seem to miss is that a lot of what Net Zero is about is actually beneficial and cost effective. Green energy, whether you think it can provide all of our energy needs or not is a far better way of producing it than fossil fuels and offers us far greater energy security and a much more predictable cost base / lower bills.

Not belching out huge amounts of toxic chemicals and particulates is good for our health. Not belching out billions of tons of CO2 and other greenhouse gases is good for maintaining a stable climate. A lot of it is simply better regardless of whether you believe the incredible scientific consensus that human impacts are increasing global heating beyond safe levels.

a) don't think there's much debate with the scientists who've actually studied it. The debate often comes from people who get their funding from fossil fuels.

B) I think you're confusing weather with climate.

C) it's about leadership and striding into a greener better future. It shouldn't be about desperately trying to maintain fossil fuels companies profits.

D) hard to argue against that!
