Wolves (H) memories
Posted by Berko Hatter on 19/9/2023, 7:52:08
28th December 1974 Luton 3 (Sir Ron Futcher, 3) WWFC 2
My first game standing in the Oak Rd end with my Dad, age 9. I just remember the place went absolutely mental when RF scored his third… hooked for life!
That score would do me on Saturday, except a Morris hat-trick this time!
Anyone there in ‘74?

Not '74 but a sunny Saturday afternoon September 1983, Division 1. Stood under the KR scoreboard, middle bit. Wolves fans iirc in the segregated bit nearest the Maple, although might have that bit wrong and they were in the bit nearest Bobbers. KR end was split into 3.
Luton won 4-0 as I recall. It was a memorable day for me as I had a painful earlobe throughout the game from getting my ear pierced in the morning at a stall in the Arndale market. Good win though.
Great game in 94-95 on a really wet pitch - I think that Pleat may have had it soaked - we pinged that ball about especially first half with Preece, Telfer, Oakes. 2-0 up at HT, drew 3-3. A bit of a forgotten classic.

Remember the 2-0 in 1977 better, took the league leaders apart that day

The last thing I said to my dad before he died was that we had beaten Wolves. I think it was a cup game? All a bit hazy tbh

I was there. The first time that I had seen us play Wolves. Didn't go to the away game that season (my first away game was just after that game). The first seven times I saw us play Wolves, we won them all. We have a fairly good record against them over the almost fifty years () since then.
I seem to recall them ripping out the fences in the Kenilworth road end and throwing them into the gardens behind. Big crowd iirc. Can't remember score or year. Late 70's early 80's.
