    Good day put yesterday

Posted by crumpsall on 17/9/2023, 10:10:37

Apparently some clown 'impostered' me yesterday saying I was having a horrendous day. Bizarre. I was wondering why so many people asked how I was at the match until someone pointed it out. Seems a lot of nice people read Outlaws along with the loons, freaks and weirdos who infest the place with their oddball routines. I'd had my phone switched off most of the day so hadn't seen it.

My day was quite the opposite in fact: a very smooth train journey both ways, beautiful sunshine and a few pleasant pints in excellent company in the beer garden at The Crabtree.

Shame Bell didn't put that chance away: we need to be taking those. Fulham fans even more 'plastic' hhan last time though I did speak to one after who was genuine- hates what their supporter base has become.

And after the game, had a quick pint at the Prince Arthur, Euston and chatted to a Chelsea fan outside. Nice bloke, knew his football and wished us well. Mick Whelan, Secretary General of ASLEF. I had no idea until someone else spoke to him. There for a retirement do.

Thoroughly nice bloke and I wished him and his union well as I know all of you would....

I was in the NGA and then Unite for 40 odd years, never did anything for me.

40 odd employees in my last company were all leavers, McCluskey kept sending his pro Corbyn and remain crap through the post, it all went straight in the bin.

The company went under, Unite did nothing for us, only interested in the massive companies and getting labour government .
Im sure we made McCluskey a very rich man.
Turns out he was doing dodgy building deals for his mates.

Gotta jump in at this point Crumps, I actually enjoyed non-league stuff, and like you , I loved our rise from the old 4th division. Mind you , I was young then, the old bones crunch and grind a bit now.
I'm also enjoying seeing us learn and improve. I'll certainly not take relegation as a certainty.
Our first year back in the Championship and Bluffer Jones had us on the canvas and the count got to 9, but we got up and slugged it out.
Having just watched Everton I'm certainly not despondent

Don't need a good result to have a decent day out, surely? Need to get some perspective if it does effect you like that

The only exceptions to a result ruining a day out would be losing to Watford or losing a play-off game/relegation decider

Perhaps you don't understand what 'day out' means, or the context of this post in the light of me being impostered yesterday?

And actually, I'm thoroughly enjoying every minute of this season as it happens, making the most of it and looking for - and seeing - positives. As I did when we initially struggled in the Championship and throughout the Conference years.

Thankfully not many are miserable and negative, while most understand what incredible things have been achieved against the odds in the last ten years and are immensely proud of it and who were are. And that includes having 'great days out' when we're up against it as were are now and inevitably were going to be this season.

I assume you didn't enjoy any of those dark days as we fell out of the league? There were some brilliant times like Bury away, defiance in the face of misfortune and unequal matches is a wonderful thing.

Depends on context. I didn't mind us losing to them at Saltergate last game of the season which kept them up. About 20 years ago. They had a pitch invasion and came over to us and we applauded them in the mutual understanding of the significance of a late winner in the final match of the season to keep the team up and not get relegated. Plus, as a Derbyshire lad, I have a soft spot for the Spireites.

Good point, but I remember the 0-0 home draw in 2009 against them which put the nail in the relegation coffin.
