I support 2020 who are very much anti Sports Washing.

Golf is on the news. Many golfers are against what has happened without their consent.

Watch the news and never put words in my mouth to fortify your agenda.

There isn’t a sport that is untouched by dubious morals and the pursuit for money over what is right.
Fortunately, there are clubs and individuals within various sports that are trying to swim against the tide. I doubt they’ll win sadly.
But I for one am proud of our club’s position.

All sports are way past being in danger. But there’s more to each and every one of them than the professional governing bodies.
The PGA tour and DPWorld Tour have no morals, just as FIFA, UEFA, The Premier League etc have no morals.
But that doesn’t mean the sports themselves and those that
participate in them have no morals.

I don't for a moment think it was an attack on the game itself. You and The Questioner are being unreasonably aggressive about a simple post on a topical subject.

                                      Yes I have.
How does today change anything about the above? It’s not golf that has no morals, it’s the chief executives of the PGA Tour / DP World Tour and Liv that have no morals.
Just as PIF owning Newcastle and the World Cup in Qatar doesn’t make everyone who likes and plays football have no morals.

Right, so you define what “golf” is, and then call someone an idiot for following that definition.

You're right however that I don't care much about golf, though I've often watched the Ryder Cup.

What I do care about is big sports stories in the news, and this merger is one of them. The Radcliffe/Glaser deal news is also about to fully break apparently according to a United mate I spoke to at length earlier, and all hell will break out about that up here. He seems to be doing a deal with the devil. It's in the post you've singularly failed to understand. Again.

Mate I love cricket and spend more times at test matches around the world than I do any other sport . I do however believe the IPL has been good for the game overall.
I quite like PEP but couldn’t give a flying #### about City .
You too….one day we will meet and have a beer rather than bickering on this board…I didn’t know you knew Abbo …Sat next to him at Sunderland and share a car with him sometimes to games so suspect our paths will cross one day.

I've only met Abbo a couple of times, sat on the same table as him and Cerys at a club do (Luton Hoo) and another do (where Cerys sang the Matty Pearson song!). I do however know some of his contemporaries from UK Decay times quite well.

A pint sometime would be good!

As an aside, I suspect you know cricket much better than me but my worry about the IPL and all short forms is much more about technical test skills for players than crowds.

In part yes I do …However I think LiV ( if you can put the backers to the side ) is in the main good for the game .
If you look at the IPL for example it was going to be the death of cricket and arguably the totally opposite has happened .
A different exciting format is getting kids interested who would never have given it a second glance previously .

It's been ####ing disastrous if you like cricket.

If you like watching a cavalcade of batsman slogging sixes and have the attention span of a goldfish then I'm sure it's great.

As I wrote below I suspect I have spent more time watching test match cricket around the World than any other sport . I continue to do so.
However whilst I was a massive sceptic in the beginning and thought T20 would be the final nail in the coffin for cricket played over several days that just hasn’t happened .
Don’t confuse your personal preference to what has actually been good for the game. Test over T20 all day long for me as well btw.

It's already totally ####ed Test cricket in places like West Indies and South Africa where players can earn far more money than they can by playing Test cricket.

The way things are going, only England, Australia and India will be playing any significant amount of Test cricket in 10 years time, and I have my doubts about England.

Last year @ The Centurion we had loads of young kids participating in various activities which I have never seen at other golf tournaments. If you look at the demographics of those watching it’s a much younger audience ( mainly because it’s played over a much shorter time ) and that’s continuing all around the world .

                                                              Re: Golf

Can you show me where you got the breakdown of demographics of those watching LIV from?

I have been to the Open 5 or 6 times and also the Ryder cup twice . The only US event I have been to is at Pebble Beach.
They came from a presentation I recently attended at the golf club. It was in support of LIV so maybe biased but attending the event last year lots of young kids involved. It’s only a few weeks away go and see for yourself and you can make a comparison.

The same will happen again in a couple of weeks time and if you add the music in the evening arguably something for everyone. It’s the same set up at all the LIV tournaments around the World .
The format isn’t perfect but it’s evolving . Just as 20/20 appalled the purists of cricket the changes LIV are making do the same to the traditionalist in golf.
