    Ground costs for EPL

Posted by No Nothing on 5/6/2023, 8:15:24

Listened to the POF podcast yesterday and one of the hosts (Kevin Day) stated that Leeds needed to spend around £6m on the ground to align with EPL standards when they got promoted 3 years ago.

This isn't a new phenomenon, Forest had to do the same, it's just a story because of the Kenny.

They would have had to do plenty of work but not knock a whole stand down.

It was a more reference to grounds being EPL ready. If you haven't been in the EPL for 10 years plus then you're likely to have significant work to do.

True enough, some of the comments on that Coventry forum about that were a little embarrassing for a club that was allowed to play on in the EFL when they didn't even have a ground having been kicked out of theirs.

              Agreed

Not just Cov of course. Many fanbases have very little self-awareness, coupled with high levels of hypocrisy and high-levels of entitlement

This has become even more apparent the higher up the food chain we've gone. It'll be off-the-scale next season, especially if we beat the Arsenals and Man Utds of this world with a bit of shithousery and defensive football

Well, the rich and bigger clubs can't have it both ways - they can't hoard most of the wealth and the best players and then complain when poorer clubs come along and refuse to roll over playing, at times, not the purest version of the game. Brighton are doing well at the moment and playing decent stuff too but to establish in the division they were not pretty at first

It's as though the smaller, poorer clubs are just there for the big clubs to push over and have their heads patted and sent on their way. Luton will not be like that next season. We will take a couple of hammerings I reckon but, in general, we are going to ruffle even more feathers and it'll be funny to witness meltdowns in opposition fanbases when we do that

That post . . . should be read with Land of Hope & Glory playing in the background . . . totally agree!

And even if we don't survive, I do feel sure that we will bloody a few noses on our way and that will be pure magic . Imagine a late equaliser bundled in at Anfield to deny them a place in Europe . . .

Late winner at Man City on the last day of the season to deny them the title and secure our safety

                  History and 1983, almost, repeating!

                    Lol, this is a fun game . . .

How about a late equaliser at Everton to finally send them down with their new ground too . . .
