Most important things for Power Court

    Posted by Sodje’s Doorag on 31/5/2023, 14:33:14

    1. History - Needs to have as much info about our history as possible. All over the concourse walls etc Club timeline, museum
    2. Tightness to the pitch
    3. Stands not too bright - Looks so much better when the crowd are in the shadows
    4. Norm’s Caribbean Hut expanded outlet
    5. Decoration - Arsenal’s first season or two at the Emirates the whole place was just grey and concrete. I think they’ve since put reasonable effort into giving it some branding. The vomitories should be painted, and those big gaps in the corner always look shit in new stadiums so something to cover that.
    6. Some kind of brewery
    7. Casino
    8. Aquarium
    9. SKF Clock
    10. A funicular from the train station to the ground, possibly the largest in Western Europe

          Big gaps in the corners?

There don't appear to be any in the drawings.

Hatters' Heritage have had a preliminary chat to the club and ideas are forming. Nothing set in stone yet apart from the Museum itself. But I think we all wanted Club History everywhere we could - in every bar, wall cabinets, tables with glass tops with displays inside (maybe dedicated to the players, managers etc). On the latter - it would be great to order some food on an app and instead of entering a table number you press the John Still icon.

Ring of Honour like they have at various other stadia especially in the US. Names of club legends as well as the various league titles and cups.

Decent enough idea so long as it isn't OTT like forest. They won a European Cup don't you know....

If one of the bars/Pub is accessible from the plaza and is open every day to the public on non-match days, it would be great to have plenty of historic memorabilia on display to encourage extra support.

The Museum should be open most days, volunteers allowing. I'm sure there will be ground tours and schools will also feature so they will be exposed to it all too. When I went to the Dallow Road school about 5 years ago - a Junior School? - they were learning about Ernie Simms.

Name the executive boxes after Luton Legends. Ummm, perhaps even one called Lomax, certainly Pelly and Gordon Turner.

                        Good to hear.

Looking elsewhere, I like what Plymouth have done to their entry/exit areas

Great way of adding character to an otherwise big bit of concrete in most modern stadia.

100%. There might be a permanent display in the Museum. Or maybe rotate it and get it out November time. And/or a plaque on the wall outside the ground. Lots to think about. Thank you.

I'm liking the funicular. Given the ground's location amid the rolling Bedfordshire hills, could we not have a series of cable cars that descend upon Power Court from atop the heights of Hart and Stockingstone Hill's?
