Ground/transfers etc

Everyone I spoke to before Wembley wanted us to win to get the money for the stadium. Now we’re in the Prem, all the speculation is about signings, transfers etc. yes we’ll need some but I’m sure we won’t be going mad, just the usual churn (5 of the team who started at Wembley weren’t here last season). We have a brilliant recruitment team, as George Elek has said, we’ll sign someone and everyone will go “ok, well they’re ok” and they will then go on to exceed anything anyone could of expected of them. Brentford stayed up with a workmanlike squad and just a few good players so it’s possible.

Agreed, would prefer us to risk relegation than overspend on players and not have enough to complete the ground.
'risk' relegation? I think we'd be best served by accepting that relegation is basically inevitable. If, by some miracle, we manage to stay up then great obviously but it's not especially likely.
Have to admit though, it's going to be a tough balancing act for the board. Obviously the wage bill is going to go up as is the max we will pay yet somehow we'll need to balance that with the possibility of coming back down.
We will want to be competitive so we will need at least some squad augmentation but we won't be able to pay huge fees . . . tough one. Glad I'm not having to make those decisions.
I don`t think we will be paying massive fees anyway - out of contract or almost out of contract players etc. I`d certainly expect us to break our transfer record a few times, but we could do that and still have change from 10- million!
wages are the issue of course - especially for anyone being bought in, as the players would want parity - 15K a week in low for a prem wage, but ore than double what the players will be on now
That's about right T. If the club wants to preserve its ethos or financial balance then it will keep most of the squad, making only around 5 changes- and one of those is a Bradley replacement. They will have a list of lower league gems, Premiership loan possibilities, and .maybe a few S American internationals we can afford....interesting days,as always!
"Edwards has to go ..... taken us as far as he can ..... tactically inept ..... 2020 have to sell up and let someone who will invest take over ..... players don't care ..... "
