    Booking or penalty

WOW.. what an awful decision on Saturday from Michael Oliver and backed up by VAR .... If that was Harland or Salah that would have been a nailed on pen

    but

Who cares .... WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE.

      Wasn't a dive that's for sure

The exaggerated fall was a bit silly.

If Barnsley did not get one yesterday then ours was never a pen.

Var is a sick joke in honesty as smash the ball against an arm from 5 yards and it’s nailed on.

Whilst it wasn't a dive, it also wasn't a 'clear and obvious error'
However, VAR should have referred him to the monitor if only to rescind the yellow card as that was an error.
Maybe in that instance they would then have given the penalty?
          Who knows, i'm pretty sure i don't!

Var cant be uses to rescind yellows, only to upgrade to red. So once he gave a yellow i dont think the pen can be overturned by var either.

Ahh seen VAR upscale to a red so assumed it could also go other way. Guess in hindsight it's the same as a booking cant be overturned/upscaled in a non var match.

Surely the correct course of action there is not review it on VAR, and then issue a yellow if it was felt it was a dive

Watching live, I was convinced the ref pointed to the penalty spot.

The keeper caught him so it was a def pen for a clear foul. The ref made the mistake of interpreting Clicker's subsequent exaggeration as simulation of a foul, rather than simulation of its effects. I suppose he could still have awarded the penalty and carded clicker for the exaggeration but maybe that's expecting too much of a ref.
