Having to move seats next season

Posted by Earls on 29/5/2023, 8:20:46

One comment of Sweet’s that’s been overlooked is that the extra TV cameras required next season will mean some fans’ seats will have to move.
As I understand it, VAR cameras and those for foreign Prem broadcasters totals 40-50 cameras. Placing those around the ground presumably means fans who sit low down in the ground (I’m near the front of Kenny Lower) will have their view blocked enough to need to move.
Don’t get me wrong, if that’s the price of the club trousering £170m from promotion, fair enough! I’d presume, given another Sweet comment that the revamped Bobbers will lead to a total capacity increase of a few hundred, that the Bobbers will be a decent mix of the necessary revamped media centre and regular fans’ seats.
Where this leaves the corporates, lord knows. (And I might be wrong on all this, far from the first time.)

Some people are also going to have their view blocked by the new floodlight pylons required at each end. We are having to make quite some compromises to play in the EPL I think.

        The key change required

Is to ensure ever seat is filled for EVERY match.

For every game this season there have been spare seats.

There can all be resold with ease next season.

Not sure how you do this but season ticket holders who can’t attend need to be compensated for all games they can’t attend.

We have to fill the ground regardless of position and opponent.

There will always be people who can't go at the last minute. I know a couple who had tickets for Sunderland away but their car broke down on the way there. Although that was the away game, it still happens with home games.

There are always "no shows" for cup games where people have bought tickets rather than being part of an ST.

I believe that the average no show over all clubs is in.the region of 10 per cent.

Yes understand, but we need to get that 10% down to less than 1%

Need some collective thinking on how but that extra income and bums on seats will be good for everyone.

Yes, but it's been more than that quite often, it's a valid point he's making albeit in an overstated way.
