    Summer signings - Potential Targets

    Posted by Kenny56 on 28/5/2023, 22:38:34

Firstly what a day yesterday was, from start to finish top draw.

    Realistic summer signings:

Copper - Leeds - Prem experience - Need an experienced pro with Bradley moving on?

Hamer - Coventry - Very good midfielder, high energy with plenty of skill, suits us to a tee.

Dewsbury Hall - Been one of Leicesters better players, we know him well, makes a bit of sense.

Cameron Archer - Aston Villa - On loan at Middlesborough this season and played very well. May well be a loan dependant on what Villas plans are with him, profilic, pacey and can finish. Different to what we currently have.

Nkamba and Drameh on permanent signings.

Just a few realistic ideas that come to my head - Thoughts?

Oli McBurnie reckon could get goals in EPL again and will be 100 per cent fit and ready to go don't know if he has signed a new deal

I’d be surprised if many players want to come and play at your dump of a ground

More suited to non league where you ####ing belong

Dewsbury-hall would be far too expensive. Has been linked with the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal earlier in the season.

Archer could be an interesting one. We'll need an extra forward for sure - we didn't replace Cornick and Jerome in January and while Taylor has started to be a bit more involved lately, Adebayo and Morris will need more help.

A chunk of the budget will go on the three loan lads presumably. Then we need a bit more depth without blowing the wage structure.

Another striker. Ade is more of a goal maker, and bloody good at it too, but Morris can't score them all

Van Veen from Motherwell - maturing with age - 31 goals this season. Relatively cheap

Given you think the Watford reject at Bradford is the new Messi, I'll ignore your championship manager list.

I think I have accepted my mid-judgement on that situation months ago. That is on record.

I was right about Jones though.

Let’s move on and don’t expect you to agree but the list above is somewhat more realistic than you may think.

I really hope we don't make wholesale squad changes. I think that would be really hard on those great players who've got us this far and been a significant part of our journey. We can't afford top individual players anyway and we don't want to unsettle the close-knit nature of our squad.

It might be easier to start with who will and won't be with us from our current squad to that end it's important that we re-sign Lockyer and Osho as well as any other first-team starters who are out of contract. I have no idea how many that will be.

It would make sense to try and secure the permanent signings of both Drameh and Nkamba. Perhaps try and add KDH. I think we'd need a bit more cover up front. Maybe Chuba Akpom who was on loan at Boro last season and was phenomenal. He might fancy playing in the top flight as he won't get a look in at Man Utd.

Maybe a loan or two but I think that would be it really. Obviously, contracts would need to be adjusted accordingly upping our salary cap but also managing it sensibly to reduce it should we get relegated.

But, I trust the board to make sensible decisions regarding contracts and the recruitment team to have already put a few irons in the fire. Looks like Joe Taylor might just end up being a great signing. He didn't look out of his depth at all when he came on, his goal, albeit disallowed, must have given him confidence, and the way he dispatched his penalty suggests some player.

Akpom is a Boro player - signed him from a club in Greece

Ok fair enough. I thought he was on loan from Man utd. I must be thinking of someone else but no idea who.

Do Man City really have a player called Trafford?

If he stays there until he'as a veteran he'll be Old Trafford

they do, James Trafford 20yr. on loan at Bolton and looks like a very good keeper.

Alfredo Morelos would get goals and is a Columbia international is free and is top scorer for Rangers in Europe

Ryan Kent us also free and would also create goals both would start easily and would fancy playing in the EPL if the wages was right

One thing we’ll notice will be the average size of PL players. We aren’t a big side in spite of the long ball narrative so we’ll need some big ones.
