      Maybe They are trying to give City fans every chance to catch trains home.
      The last thing they want is thousands of City fans staying over as they can't get home when 30,000 United are turning up.

          There are situations where it might be relevant. There are probably, for example, Liverpool fans who can't get (or afford) tickets for their games who would go to watch Tranmere instead. If Liverpool's game is televised, they might stop at home to watch it.

          I think that the effects would probably be felt further down the pyramid.
