    Last night's ref

Best performance I've see since the great Pierluigi Collina.

Possibly a bit quick with the yellows for 'time-wasting'. Obviously I don't know if they were told that there wouldn't be any warnings but there didn't seem to be many.

I'd also like to know if this was going to applied as stringently in every other game or if it's just a one-man-crusade against slow throw-ins.

      Cheers, Jim

Count me in with him if that's the case.

I wouldn't disagree, as long as every ref was going to do the same, for every team, in every game in the qualifying and tournament.

The further I got through typing that sentence, the more sceptical I got that it would be the case.

          Cheers, Jim

            Good point.

It's the inconsistency in refereeing that is frustrating to both fans and players.

It's a bit like time added on. FIFA issue an edict which is followed at the World Cup but then ignored after that.

I would imagine last night's game would have been an additional 10 mins added time in W/C but only 5 mins in Euro qualifying.

            Bizarre.

Added time fizzled out during the world cup not after it.

              Yes, absolutely.

I've had a few ref rage moments recently when, having seen opposing keepers take the piss out of refs with time wasting at KR for years, every time we seem to take the lead the ref immediately jumps on us for any hint of it.

Ref at the Bristol City game was very hot on it, must've warned Horvath 4-5 times but then did #### all

Agree he was a good ref but thought the linesmen (sorry referees assistants)were very influenced by the vociferous crowd.

Consistency across refereeing though is the key. Last nights ref set out his stall with yellow cards for time wasting early doors. Players/teams wouldn’t continue doing it if all refs applied the rules like last nights ref. The fact that other teams have being doing it to us at home consistently, with just a warning from the ref and no card even from the first goal kick is infuriating. We have become wiser to the dark arts as a team ourselves because we can get away with it, which is reaping its rewards, but does spoil the game somewhat.

Ah , right , didn't like the bookings or sending off ? I can understand that.
What I couldn't understand was that , one after another, players dived in to get booked for time wasting.
Far too harsh on the ref's part
