Interesting way of doing things :

JOHN DOOLAN has left Everton after 16 years to become Centre Forward Scouting Manager at Brighton.

The 48-year-old was a trainee for the Toffees, although he never made a senior appearance for them, and went on to hold a number of coaching, scouting and recruitment roles with them.

His last role at Everton was as Regional Scout Manager for the North. As TGG has previously reported, Brighton have an innovative system where they organise their scouting according to positions rather than geography.

Given Everton's lack of forwards capable of scoring whenever Calvert-Lewin is AWOL, maybe this scout's skillset isn't quite as good as his CV may have indicated!

Their latest accounts suggests they pay the analytical company £3m a year for their services which looks like small beer compared to the recent player trading numbers.

They also have £500m debt to Tony Bloom so their business model still needs substantial help...

Interesting but clubs on a smaller budget surely can't afford to employ a scout for every position.
