Their content creators are going to have fun then "yeah can you update this, but use your own phone please as we cant risk a company one"

Surprised it wasn`t picked up as a risk before ..

-China "releases" a virus that spreads worldwide
-As a result of the ensuing lockdown they release an app that spreads worldwide (well if you are 12!)
-App can then be used as a different form of virus

      ****

On a vaguely similar theme saw someone was turning off the emergency alert on their phone (You know the one that tells you if we are about to be nuked and which seems to go off every so often on holiday as other countries use it a bit more freely) - his reasoning was that it was a form of government control. Not sure I can see the connection - but he was posting it using an app that can track your location. If you are that paranoid smartphones are probably not for you

          Preparing for this?

Loads of alarms going off in kit bags on lorries at the London Marathon. According to the video in the article below, the alarm will continue sounding until you acknowledge it.

            Thats the one.

Had my phone go off with that sort of siren in 2020 in Crete - never heard my phone make that noise before (It was waning of a hire level outbreak of covid in the heraklion area - which turned about to be 5 - probably a bit excessive to broadcast that o everyone's phones)

had an alert come through in turkey last year - all in turkish! I did ask the barman what he said he said "delete" . fair enough

                I haven't got a place this year.

Depends what they mean by early evening - the last runners don't get started until about 11 o'clock so there will still be a lot who haven't finished and got through to collect their bags until quite late.

Would have thought the majority of people run with their phones now anyway - clearly not all.

                    Yep. Strava and the like.

Plus music. Running is fucking tedious as it is, without music it would be physically impossible. Plus I'd be able to hear myself breathe and the few seconds that I've had of that when the radio cuts out is fucking terrifying.

And I'm nowhere near marathon distances/times.

                    Cheers, Jim

Strava is a ####ing arse! You could have been happy with a leisurely jog or bike ride. Instead you suddenly know when you are approaching a segment. And wonder if thats when you can get a pb or local legend bit! Its the same when you are using a ski app. You suddenly get obsessed by distance or setting a maximum speed. Other fitness apps have the same issue - i use myzone. Its annoying as #### if your workout isnt recorded!

Agree on music - silence and heavy breathing is not a good combination (did the great south run a couple of times...no music there as the phone refused to stream with 10,00 others trying to do the same - luckily there is enough background noise there)

I use Garmin Connect linked to my watch. When I save it on my watch it transfers it to Garmin Connect and Strava so I don't take notice of sections of the course in that sense - the first time I did 20 miles after getting my Garmin, I was peed off when Garmin Connect and my watch both showed 20 miles but Strava decided that it was 19.99 miles. Strava consistently shows 0.01 or 0.02 miles under what the others show.

Realistically you know what you have run. BUt its that tiny percentage that just irritates you.You want that milestone. I found strava sometimes goes walkabouts. stop by the seafront and it suddenly decides you have jumped to the IOW and back. Didnt realise i had suddenly done a triathlon. It also decided i`d been to gosport. But it didnt log my nabs i`d have needed.
