Sad to read

AA passed due to prostrate cancer.
This is often curable or can at least be lived with when treatment is sought early.
Anyone of a certain age that has not had a PSA test, please get one.

Only 22 places left for testing on Sunday 30th April Eric Morecombe suit.

As a man who was diagnosed just over two years ago i strongly agree with your wise words.
I was 50 when i got the verdict i was indeed stage four, my PSA reading was quite high but i knew nothing about prostate cancer until then.
I had four weeks of radiotherapy, it will never be cured but im still here to tell the tale and pass on what i now know.
The psa test should be compusary for evey man aged over 45

Decent post. When you say 'a certain age' what is the general rule on that? I now very little about it tbh. Cheers.

I've had it for 7 years and NHS have been great keeping watch, therefore get in the system early just in case. It has many treatments which are improving all the time. Don't be an ostrich. PS. 50 years ago we lost at Roker Park in the 6th round of the Cup so I hope we get revenge with another 3 points. COYH, go and get tested.

Talk to you your GP and they can organises the PSA test if you're over 50. Some GPs will try to talk you out of it if you have no obvious symptoms, but you can insist and they have to do it.

I’m told the charity only charge a tenner. It’s a pin prick. They send results and advise based on results when you need another test.

That home test is no good for people whose blood clots quickly. They don't tell you that, but I know from personal experience. My money was refunded and I was told to go to the GP to sort it.

Iam currently awaiting treatment was diagnosed in January again no obvious symptoms. Went for a PSA test which wasn't worryingly high but had a urine test and there was blood in it. So things happened from there further PSA showed it had risen this was followed by an MRI which again was inconclusive. This was followed with a biopsy which unfortunately showed that I had a large area of cancer. Just cannot stress enough just get a PSA test done because you never know there aren't always any obvious symptoms.

Sorry to hear AA passed, its a nasty illness one hopes it can be cured in time. To just say i was ill 14 months ago with rapid weight loss , 4 stone fell off in weeks, I had several prostate checks and Cameras down or up both ends, they found blood in a sample fortunately i was clear but cripes i was scared. AA will be at peace and can watch games for free now RIP
