Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,

gate receipts and television money. And how important that is. And it is. However if 2020 are going to build a multi million pound stadium for us but whether or not it happen depends on how far we progress in The Cup then we are up shit creak.
It's like you or I worrying over spending 40 or 50 quid out of our current or savings account that has £2 or 3k in it.
It's not worth worrying about.
Getting promoted is so much more important.
Don't get me wrong, Linda and I get properly fùcked off every time we lose or drop points from winning positions (see 'brough in December or The Baggies in January). And tonight is no different. But it's going to happen.
Edwards has taken 18 points from a possible 24 available. And I'll take that everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
So roll on the weekend and Coventry away. The 2300+ going will out sing and out fan the home end.
Like it's time to move on from Jones because it is, it's also time to forget the FA Cup and concentrate on the league.
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
As I said to an earlier post about this, you can’t miss what you never had. Not a great analogy, but it’s a bit liking getting upset about not winning on the lottery when you’ve bought a ticket.
Yes, we were dogshit poor tonight but, given the choice, I’d take 3 points Saturday against a win tonight…
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
Because if we won every game like some fans think we should and could then within 3 seasons we'd be World Club Champions. It's a great thought. But unrealistic.
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
every extra penny earned is one less that some poor sod has to pay out of their own pocket, the club is loss making, progress in the cup mitigates those losses, 500k isn’t to be sniffed at when overall TV money for the league is circa £6m
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
We made a relatively small loss during and as a result of the pandemic. From a relatively small loss in 19 to a relatively small profit in 20 (though in reality this was a plus £5m turnaround) and back to a small loss because we couldn't go to The Kenny (but again a £5m reverse +/-).
It's stressful enough being a supporter for 55 years. I wouldn't want Linda (a supporter since our first date, Boxing Day away to Shīteford 1979) and my savings invested in it regardless of how much we our club.
By the way that was an omen, we won 0-1. Big crowd. Linda born and raised Old Bedford Road. With me, mum and dad and my 2 sisters and brother. All from the wrong side of the tracks!
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
Perhaps that money could have been spent on wages to entice the next group of players will we need to bring in or help keep us competitive in keeping our better players. Sure if we did get promotion then player wage problems are more than solved, but that's if, the FA Cup money is here and now.
We effectively paid £500k tonight to increase our chances of promotion.
Assuming promotion is a £100mil payoff, 'throwing' tonight needed to have increased our promotion chances by 0.5% for it to have been profitable in the long run.
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
Erm, we didn't give them away, we got an undisclosed fee for two players approaching the end of their contracts. We didn't have the money to compete with the wages offer to both players, but you know all this. The payday from one game could secure further players or existing players, you obviously don't think that was worth the risk, I do, opinions vary. Plays offs are a lottery, hopefully we can get there, the next round was more than achievable.
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
we could go up automatically. Probably not as champions as I think Burnley are away. But we could catch Sheffield. Then again so could 'brough and dare I say the scum and 1 or 2 others.
But our goal difference is a problem. Not scoring enough. Conceding too many.
That is more realistic.
Re: Posters have gone about losing £500k in round fees,
I would still think the same. If a business like LTFC and all its associated businesses think it's the be all and end all then we have problems. Same can be said for fans. I stand by my original post.
