Regardless of the man’s failings, and despite leaving us for a supposedly better model (again), it’s worth wondering if experiencing this kind of witch hunt is worth it- for any financial reward.

It is toxic. But the perceived wisdom by club owners is that a new manager will bring a bounce. 6 defeats out of 7 in the league has meant that the managerial change has done f**k all. So what is the kneejerk reaction? Let's roll the dice again to see if anything improves. AKA The W*****d method.
It's only when nothing improves does the magnifying glass fall on the owners and culture at the club. Something which the owners obviously don't want. Look at Everton, Birmingham and West Brom.

The best pound for pound coach in Europe really doesn’t help himself though - that press conference was a disaster

Chris Sutton says he should go, and lets be honest he knows FA, players and supporters brainwashed by media as soon as he got job. Didn't realize PREM League is such a closed shop.
F em ALL , they don't like Nat cos he arrived from Luton.

Listen out we're coming to spoil your manky league next season.

In today's society some consider it normal.

The Internet allows these cowards to thrive.

I must confess, having left us in the lurch mid-season for a second time, I took some amusement from things not going overly well at first.

Having been keeping an eye on proceedings via forums/social media however, I’m now finding the level of vitriol directed at NJ deeply uncomfortable. This is a human being, regardless of profession- I realise that people in pro football have to operate in a very public forum, but this is beyond that, really getting nasty.

How long before somebody in elite football does something drastic as a result of something like this….

It is sad to see but he brings a lot of it on with his attitude. His ego feeds these people, and he is always sniping and taking pot shots at everyone but himself. He clearly thinks he is something he isn't.

                      Is anyone actually surprised?

Yer kuz these lunatics need an excuse.

Have you read the vile abuse offered ( by plenty ) to the missing woman's family?

Can only imagine the abuse his family is getting from these freaks.

Those in football, managers in particular, have always come under fire when things aren’t going well, which comes with the territory. Whilst most of us don’t have to put up with that in our working lives, we also don’t receive the adulation during the good times either.

There must be a line though, and in my opinion at least, the situation at Southampton has crossed it. The bear pit that Jones is going to walk into at the Wolves game will be deeply unpleasant, if they lose, he is likely to need an escort to get away from the stadium……Because he’s lost some games of football and is starting to unravel in press conferences.

It really shouldn't though, people have to be better than all this.

Southampton fans are delusional. What big name manager would want to go there? They got the manager of the year from the Championship and hated him from the first minute. I hope he proves them wrong and keeps them up but it won’t be easy because their squad is really poor.

I've read that accusation about Southampton fans alot the last few weeks.
I doubt any of them expect Pep or Klopp to come in but I can see why they're so underwhelmed at Rat Face going in.
They're an established PL club struggling to stay up.
Had they been 7th or 8th from bottom and taken a gamble on a young British manager then maybe the supporters would have gone with it.
Instead they've got some bloke out of his depth. No new manager kick has happened. And to top it off, he comes out with his mental press conference Saturday.
If he really was one of the best in Europe last season, we'd surely have beaten a bang average Huddersfield team. We didn't.
In the same situation we'd all be asking questions.....

It's also no new manager bounce after basically five weeks off (a pre-season almost) for the world cup and a record signing.

Quite impressive that they're now worse than they were before his arrival.
