Glad to see we were able to use these well known traits of our ground to our advantage at last.

from memory and i am sure one of the more informed posters will know, the pitch used to slope towards the corner between the Oak and Bobbers. When the plastic pitch was installed the slope was corrected.

That's right. The water accumulated in that corner of the pitch. In the famous abandoned Man City Cup tie when 5 1 down, someone tried to take a corner kick and the ball floated away. The ref took the players off temporarily and we all jumped in the bath to ensure the game wasn't restarted. The rest is history - Denis Law.

...and the one in the rearranged game - only the second player to score seven goals in an FA Cup tie (although the six don't officially count) and end up on the losing side.

Billy Minter scored seven for St Albans against Dulwich Hamlet who won the game 8-7.

Did the rain stop after the players went off?
Did you wait or leave immediately?

I did wait until I knew it was definitely off but if my memory is correct it didn’t take long. I remember myself and my good friend who was with me being soaked and shivering. We were at the very front of the enclosure.

Does the new tv gantry on the bobbers not indicate that there is a slope of sorts?
