A club going places I reckon. Home Park is now a decent ground, large catchment area with little competition. Potential really big fanbase

The only thing not in their favour is attracting players who might not fancy hours of travel every other week

They'll be a Prem side in 5 years (don't think they've ever played in the top flight)

One wise old manager of Luton once said you go down to Plymouth to die.

        Big fat Joe! 😁

Think players wives are the other problem. Too far from relations.
Also you are right, they are the largest city in England to never play in top flight. But potential is enormous.

Decent club and nice place to live …well Devon not necessarily Plymouth .

              Yep, wives/families an issue too

It's all a far cry from the days they were pulling 5-6,000 at the old version of Home Park. Just shows what redevelopment or a new ground can do for a football club

Last time I was there, was to watch Man U against St Étienne in Europe as the mancs were having to play home games at least 300 miles away, due to previous problems.

                    Ha!

Hadn't realised United once had to do that. 70s I assume?

Yes, couldn't tell you exact date but would have been then. Memory tells me they won 4-0 but my memory is iffy. I have been known to walk away from matches and have someone on the street ask the result and I have to stop and think. Always done it. Don't retain a lot of info, (never have) apart from music.

Half of them probably live in Yorkshire any way.

100% agreed. This “look at out away following” irrationally proper grips my shit.

The narrative goes that when Sunderland or whatever bring 4000 to Fulham they’ve all taken a day off work and travelled all day on a coach, committing all their disposable income for the next 3 years. Truth is almost certainly that the vast majority of them left Sunderland for the money years ago (or their parents did) and they actually live in reading or whatever.

People leave places like Plymouth and Sunderland, that’s the flow of migration. It’s more of a comment on the dire need to level up than claiming that Plymouth fans are more passionate than anyone else.
