They're just being asked to pay reasonable tax on their profits rather than using every accounting trick to avoid them mate.
Paying taxes, equably. Surely one of the basics for a decent society?
Too many people, organisations, companies, traders, corporations don't seem to want to comply with that simple decency. The result? Those of us who do pay our taxes are basically subsidising the rich and the 'cash in hand' sector.

It's just one source of obvious possible additional tax revenue that could reasonably be levied to pay for what the nurses are asking for. And it wouldn't harm Shell in the least, they are making far more money than they budgeted for.

Shell gave something like 15 times the annual cost of what the nurses are asking for in dividends . . .
They may not be responsible but there is clearly wealth in big companies and our richest citizens that could reasonably, rather than punitively, be taxed.

They benefit from having a safe, healthy country to work from. Their employees get healthcare, policing, defence and all of our other public services. So of course they should bastard well contribute.
