    Ed McJannet v Joe Taylor

Posted by Earl of Runfold on 1/2/2023, 11:12:07

Why bring in Taylor to develop for the future when we already had McJannet at the club ...was the offer for McJannet to good to turn down ?...was he McJannet not progressing quick enough ? worrying that we don`t seem to be developing and bringing through our young players like we use and give them a shot at the first team ie: Foley,Justin to name just two..

I'd guess that McJannet's move was engineered by his agent who persuaded McJannet it was a great move whilst he (the agent) got a nice big fee from Lecce.

He'll probably end up playing for a Lg2 team when he returns

I would imagine that the offer we got from Italy was rather better than what we could have been forced to sell him for to an English club under EPPP.

He is 19, he is a professional football player and you clearly do not understand what the EPPP is.

            No, I clearly didn't understand McJannet's age / status . . .

Yes we should have blocked him moving to Serie A FFS.

We do give youth a chance but they have to be good enough. Casey Petit in the first team squad at 20 yrs old, Louie Watson looks assured at 21, Elijah was 23 when we signed him. The days of blooding 17/18 year olds is over. The sport is more demanding now.

Sunderland brought on a 15 year old on Saturday. Just saying, like

              One's a striker, one's a full back.

              Am I missing something here?

McJannet is listed on the OS as a forward.

Thing is youíve named 2 there, one who made his debut over 20 years ago which suggests we havenít had this great record of bringing players through that some people seem to falsely remember for a very long time, itís not a new thing!!! As has been discussed on here regularly over the last few weeks there are so many factors involved mainly are the players actually good enough and look at how so few that have left under the banner of being poached by bigger clubs and having huge potential who have actually gone on to achieve great things!!!! Another factor is we donít tend to have many Ďdead gamesí at the end of a season as we are either fighting relegation or more commonly in a promotion race, so that run of games where you can stick a youngster or 2 in with lower stakes just havenít existed. If weíve got one who is good enough Iím sure he will get his chance and then we can dust off the Ďone of our own Ď chant

I hope that, with Taylor being hinted as not being ready for the first team yet and Muskwe presumably a way off yet too, that Zack Nelson might start getting a chance here and there too.
Iíd also hope fans donít expect him to immediately be at Morris levels, but thatís another debate. Still, just maybe thereís a chance of a homegrown striker emerging.

                    Donít be silly mate.

As soon as Nelson comes on for a five minute cameo at the end of a game and plays a mis-placed pass, all of LTFC social media will go into meltdown, saying heís shite.
