Transfer policy

Unfortunately we are in the position of buy from lower divisions, sometimes taking a punt on youngsters. Or getting loans from Premiership clubs and hopefully recruiting them if successful. It’s a policy that has served us very well in the last few years in particularly. A down side of our success are the so called bigger Championship clubs sniffing round our out of contract players and getting them on the cheap. I suspect there are a few more of our better players who may not extend their contracts for this reason to, but luckily we have big Mick and team to keep spotting the diamonds that allows us to stay in the championship. It’s a model that will hopefully change when we move into the new stadium. Great win last night. COYH

This is a good position to be in one I wanted us to be able to do for a while, shop lower down bring in a couple of season punt off for a bigger fee with a sell on. If/when we get to the premier league we can then do it on a bigger scale like Brighton do and the club will be in a great place to be.

we havent lost anyone of any importance, these “bigger” championship clubs can carry on taking our dross. hopefully we never stop looking for these diamonds, id rather find them than paying over inflated prices for foreign players.
hopefully a model we continue with as we move into a new stadium.
Totally agree that’s what I was saying in a roundabout way. With the position we are in some players will let their contracts run down to get a bigger payday, and plenty of clubs who live in debt will pay them over the odds because minimal fee involved like BC. I’ll miss Connick being around but not Bree and the new guy looks better already.

You really didn’t rate Cornick did you…😂😂. Understand why he has gone ….if we could have it would have been preferable to have kept him ( we are short up front now if we get a suspension or injury) and definitely Bree. However we have a budget and absolutely right we stick to it.
genuinely didnt mate. people got blown away by the pace, the “long” throw and his apparent boyish good looks. the bloke was terrible and thankfully edwards made the right decision.
bree was decent enough, hit a high last season that he couldnt replicate. this new kid looks decent enough and if he doesnt work out we will work our magic again.

I just think he offered something different with his pace …he also does have nice hair.😂😂
I am in the minority here …I can’t get over excited about loan players ….they aren’t ours and unless we get bought by the Saudis ( noooooo ) someone like Cody will never be.
Ha ha. I couldnt agree more. The term I use is all wind and piss!! no end product. Or rarely. won't knock his effort though. But if this moves sets him up for life you can't stand in his way.

Maybe…it just gives defenders something different to think about and allows others to get involved.
Agree with the last paragraph, he seems a very good fit . I have no doubt though that during the coming months many fans will need reminding where we sit with finances and even staying in this division is a decent result.
