It's a shame we can't pay players more and keep our best players, always been the same at Luton, even more so now, off they go for more money, anyone would do the same

We cannot pay more because we do not have the income. Hardly managed to sell out a lot of home games this season. Let's be honest tomorrow is a prime example fourteen quid for adults and a pound for kids and still not full despite Grimsby selling out their allocation.

Yes. Plenty in lower leagues and Prem U23 squads just as good and quite affordable.

Harry has done a fantastic job but we have moved on.

Is there though? Cornick is now a proven C'ship player. Not easy to find and even those with potential may take time to make the step up. Not everyone is going to have the almost immediate impact Adebayo had

He's going to be a loss but I understand the players' decision if it involves a large pay rise. He's at the peak age for a footballer now (27/28 - 32/33) if he stays healthy. I can understand if he wants a big pay day before he gets to the other side of the plateau in about 5 years time

This time last year I would have agreed but a year on is he good enough and will be improve?

He has rarely featured and had he not done so well at Wigan then perhaps we would have been unsurprised?

And it was Wigan against who he has scored and they are the worst team in the Championship at present.

He may be first choice elsewhere, but that helps our cause as he wouldn’t be for us.

He might not improve, although it's not unheard of that players in their later 20s get better. As I say, he's just got into his peak years now if he stays healthy

Players come and go and after 40 years of us losing players to clubs with deeper pockets, it's water off a duck's back, so I'm not that worried either way but I still think he'll be a loss despite his lack of game time this season (another factor in him wanting to fukk off I guess)

I don't think we have an awful lot of out and out pace in the squad either, really. We don't have any slouches either but, apart from Cornick, Onyedinma, Bell and maybe Doughty, we haven't got real speed merchants. Retaining Cornick at least gives us that option.

If we can find someone as good or better, fine. But that is not a given. Hopefully we've done that at RWB following Bree's departure, but there's no way of knowing yet. It's all unknown. At least Cornick is a known quantity

It's the way football works at every level, the better players go to bigger clubs with bigger crowds and more money, good luck to any players who leave for more money, we would all do it, there not fans of the club as we are

Bristol city bigger club - in what sense? They have more money due to a wealthy benefactor, and a bigger stadium, which they never fill! No major trophies and never played in the top division; bigger club my arse.

In what sense does that make them a bigger club, Jimmy? Surely the most important metric, is success; whereby they have had very little, if any.

Does that necessarily make them a big or bigger club, though? Wealth doesn't always equate to size (ooooh, matron)

Wigan had a wealthy benefactor and, even when they were in the Prem and winning an FA Cup, I never once thought they're bigger than us

A lot of this is subjective I s'pose and this discussion does put us in danger of sounding like Sunderland supporters, who are obsessed with this sort of thing. Fanbase FC

Concurred. The whole ‘my club is bigger’ thing is a bit cringeworthy. Although it does crack me up to see clubs like BC, with grand delusions of their status, despite having achieved nothing in their entire history.

Their average in the last few years (excluding covid) has been around 18- 20k. Do you not think we could achieve similar attendances at Power Court?

Possibly in better times but not as things are right now if I am honest. I am sure we'll improve on current averages and bigger away supports will help with that.

Obviously starting at 17.5k I suspect we might come close to filling that. Would love to think we could quickly move on to the expanded 23.5k too, it would be fantastic. I'm just not sure we can push it quite that far short of getting to the Premier League.

I agree to an extent, that our average would be around the 16-17k mark, in the championship. However, if we’re pushing for promotion, or even in the prem, I would expect crowds of 20k +. The catchment area is big, and Power Court would revolutionise our fan base, if the marketing is optimal.

It all depends on what type of season we're having at a particular time

In the Prem, we'd fill or get very close to 23,000 I reckon. Brighton's gates went from 6,000 to over 20,000 in the C'ship and now they're 30,000. Impressive

In the C'ship, if we're having a nothing sort of season, we'd pull around 15K as I say below. If we're really struggling shave another couple of thousand off of that

                                  In a C'ship promotion-chasing season, we'd be close to 20,000 I reckon

Yes that's pretty much what I think, it will depend how we are doing and I don't think current economic conditions would help.

I'm not sure we could afford to raise prices much above what they are now either.

If anything, especially for kids and youth, they might even drop prices to start generating demand that way. Could probably afford to as supply will have obviously increased

I'm sure they'll have a plan to grow the fanbase. But it feels like it's becoming ever more important to get it built and opened

If, say, we're looking at 2025-26 season for moving in, I'd like to think that economic circumstances would have changed for the better by then

Well, not necessarily ready for the start of that season but we'll see. Maybe into 26-27 but it needs building. And, yes, I'm well aware of the challenges of getting it done

We're doing alright at the moment but if we don't get promoted (which would probably accelerate things anyway) then I fear it's going to start to become increasingly difficult to compete at the level we're at, while at KR. And, all the time, school year after school year of Beds, Herts and Bucks kids will be swayed by and probably lost to the Uniteds, Arsenals and Liverpools of this world due to saturation TV coverage those clubs enjoy and the cult of celebrity now rife in the modern game

Yes, that's true and I am sure that catering etc will have improved so hopefully we will increase spend per person in those areas too.

And I agree, it is getting ever more urgent but also ever more difficult. I bet a lot of projects are falling by the wayside at the moment.

And I hope you are right about the economy, I think it's a long way from a given though.

If we're having the sort of dull, nothing seasons they've been having recently (story of their history really), then we'd get around the 15K mark I reckon so not as good as their gates

Although the fanbase will grow once PC is open so I might be underestimating
