    Bree fee

    500k- 750k apparently.

So what happened to Gary's words that Southampton would have to pay OTT for any of our players?

That is a massive fee for a club of your size. You can get Mick to drive down to Truro and see if they have any players for sale.

It's more than your franchise ever receive for players from the owners though, isn't it?

####s like you probably believe you're getting £10m but those figures are only for the taxman.

I recall reading somewhere or other that Villa would be due a big percentage of any resale profit. Letting him go for a low fee to villa but a big sellon clause for us probably maximises income long term if this is true. The money we've got for the manager probably means there isn't a pressing need to additional cash right now.

Because he is out of contract in the Summer, has probably indicated he won't sign a new contract and this is probably the going rate for somebody in the Championship with 5 months left on a contract

Yes he is out of contract and wont sign a new one but can you not add into the equation the desperation of the buying club?

NJ "Hi we want to desperately buy your RB"

            GS "That will be 2million"

NJ "but he is out of contract in 6 months"

GS "yes correct, so wait till then and get him for free"

NJ "but we cant wait till then"

            GS "2 million please"

Very simplified but you get the gist.

That's fair ,,,,, but problem maybe Bree knowing his future (financially at least) is secure downs tools and contributes to us not making the play offs

It appears to be £500K-£750K more than anyone else was prepared to pay so the comment is still technically correct

I will refer you to the countless posts lower down. If you can't be bothered... he's out of contract in June and would leave for nothing. If he wasn't then it would be a different matter.

It still seems very low. Teams buying in the transfer window always seem to pay a premium for the desperation factor. Apart from any team buying from us obviously.
