Cornick

Can’t see him not being offered a new deal. Such a vital asset to have against some sides, and yesterday was a great example.
Some serious headaches for RE with 4 strikers now in form.

A couple of weeks back many were saying that Harry & Eli were useless, their partnership last season was one the main reasons we made the playoffs.

Anybody saying that clearly knows nothing about football and team work.

Perhaps he wants to leave?

Fair point. After Wigan at home in the cup, Cornick post match did allude to the fact that it’s incredibly hard to get in the team now, so he may want to guarantee more regular football.

Wouldn't blame him to be honest. He's developed so much and seems to have real momentum. It would be a bad time for him to not be getting regular first team games.
Then again, the grass isn't always greener . . .

If rumours are to be believed, the grass may have been greener for him at least from a financial perspective.

Oh I'm sure they were but I very much doubt he's happy with how it went compared to his expectations.

I guess it depends what his expectations were when taking into consideration his age, first team football & success or financial security... Or both?

Of course, I'm just guessing.
Wondering how much he's getting at Derby now.

I thought it was at least partly not his decision...Jones mentions we decided 'to go in another direction [with Adebayo])

But where would he go? Drop down a league to make sure of first team? Jump from upper half championship to another Upper championship and find the same situation? Unless a better team showed interest, then it would make sense to stay and improve.

He's 28 this year, at his peak now and the next 2 years, he's been a championship player for 4 seasons, he causes opposition loads of problems (especially if they play a high line), he's been with us nearly 6 years and is part of a great culture of togetherness at the club; we'd be mad to let him go, especially for nothing (if he is in his last year of contract).

We probably owe him a shot at bigger wages if a big payer comes in
