Totally confused

Our elites love us as Crumpsell says and would not ever use for example their control over the media and state apparatus to harm us. That is why they had to sacrifice our economy to keep us locked down in the face of 0.8% death rate Covid 19. Okay so it was a happy co-incidence that the 500 richest people on earth all got richer during Covid but hey pointing that out would be a conspiracy theory right? But now I hear that MP's can for the first time claim back their Xmas parties against expenses - but at the same time we are paying the highest taxes since WW2. I just don't understand how our leaders who clearly love us and would never do anything to harm us are so insensitive at this time. Of course I am sure it is just some bad advice probably by right wing extremists

There's a world cup on with more talking points in 3 days than most have in the tournament, and you think this up?

Don't drag me into your shite and attribute opinions that I certainly don't hold to me. It's hardly my fault that you're a raving looney is it? So leave me out of it. Ta.

Lockdowns . . . I think the thing that people keep missing about lockdowns was that without them the NHS would have been overrun. Take a look at what's happening right now, people dying and suffering waiting for ambulances to arrive. People dying and suffering while in ambulances waiting for attention. All that while we haven't got the same level of problem with COVID too. If anyone doesn't understand how keeping people apart helps prevent the spread of infectious disease I certainly can't help them.
On the richest people that's a very separate issue. But people will keep voting in politicians who clearly aren't doing the right things to fix it because they get made some populist promises, most of which never actually come good anyway.

Maybe ask yourself a few questions to help with that confusion. Do you not think lockdowns helped keep the death rate at that figure ? Do you believe we are the only country to have lockdowns ? Do you think MP’s and their staff aren’t entitled to an Xmas party? Are YOU probably paying the highest taxes since WW2?

I'm not the OP but...
No, there's ample proof the infection rates were falling before lockdowns were implemented/before they could have had an impact
No, obviously not. Doesn't mean they were a good idea though.
There are ample reasons why that would be the case as well. Your argument is predicated on the possibility that COVID had got bored and f>ucked off, anyway, which is not borne out by the increases in infection on the lifting of lockdown.
So is plainly and objectively completely illogical nonsense.

COVID has waves as we've seen
Cases rise and fall regardless of lockdowns

Genuine question: as "COVID has waves" and "cases rise and fall regardless", why are you so convinced that the dip in the figures before the lockdowns started to affect them wasn't just a temporary dip/wave and would therefore have gone back up shortly afterwards if it wasn't for the lockdowns? Or does that argument only apply if you are using it in your favour?
It does. I'm sure you have tons of peer-reviewed data that demonstrates that it's not ALL behaviour driven.
The second sentence is just complete bollocks, I'm afraid. Plainly, objectively, logically and demonstrably.
Lockdowns were necessary thanks to a decent percentage of our population being selfish, entitled, f>uckwits and years of neglect of our NHS leaving it vulnerable to collapse, the moment a few extra people walk through the doors. The latter is not unrelated to the former being as it's the sort of c>unt who refused to buy into any sort of mitigating behaviour who's exactly the sort of c>unt who'd vote for the other load of c>unts. And then who complained the loudest about the over-correction that they ensured was necessary.
It's a vicious circle of c>untishness basically.
Cheers, Jim

It's weird how the conspiracy/ wankers always seem to have these traits.
It must be a coincidence.
It's almost like they have to try so hard to justify being a grade A kernt.

Except it's not.
They're rising and falling even now
Re: Totally confused

They are now "regardless of lockdowns" but that's because there aren't any lockdowns at the moment . . .
Re: Totally confused
Posted by Doctor Ince on 22/11/2022, 17:32:42, in reply to "Re: Totally confused"
Which is my point.
Cases will rise and fall regardless of our intervention.
Do you genuinely need the difference explaining to you?
Cheers, Jim

Yes but when we have lockdowns infections are reduced which is the point. They may still show a cyclical pattern but at a lower level. The near elimination of flu cases at the time underlines that nicely.

Nonsense and see MG’s point above re people not being able to work.
Re: Totally confused

It's objectively and clearly not nonsense.
I'm out and about but there's plenty of articles and graphs showing it.
Infections were falling before the first lockdown and fell sharply pretty much the day it came in. Expert's told us many times lockdown would take 2 weeks to have an impact. The common argument now is to say that the social distancing measures introduced first were causing it to fall, but if that is true, why the need for lockdown?
A fair chunk of pressure on the NHS was caused by making healthy staff isolate
I spent most of the lockdown trying to keep staffing levels at a small DGH on the edge of manchester stable.
staff of all types were at a shortage because of people either getting covid or having to isolate. I recall once case where the substantive worker was off with covid, the replacement had to isolate and then their replaceent got covid! Charge rates from agencies for temporary staff were through the roof. It's easy to say all this was unnecessary, but we lost workers to covid sometimes for months at a time and sometimes for good.
we kept things running, but only because elective surgery and non urgent treatments were cancelled. if this hadn't happened from my experience I believe our health system would have collapsed in the way we saw in some other countries. I know this is only my experience, and you probably have a graph that an incel made that shows something else.

You don't know that, if it were true that infection rates were falling prior to lockdown, they would have continued so to do. By healthy staff, do you mean those who had not up to then shown symptoms? Accept it, you seem to be continually advocating Boris Johnson's "Let the virus sweep through the population and let the bodies pile high" mantra.

Straw clutching, coming from the poster who has had to resort to a hypothetical in an attempt to argue against observable fact
