That statement applies to many of the rumoured contenders not just Bonner

Definitely not Bonner. Apparently we've been refused permission to talk to Jon Brady at Northampton.

Young and potential for compensation (if necessary) both of these COULD also point to O’Neil

They could also point to any number of others too.

This part of his comments seems to point away from the likes of Bonner.

Asked if the search will extend to managers currently in positions, or whether it will be free agents, Sweet said:

“It’s a good time to take somebody out of a club, I’ll be honest. It’s happened to us. Now, we always look to do the right thing, but the wrong thing isn’t necessarily taking a manager out of another club, it’s actually how you do it and the timing.

“So, the timing isn’t bad at all, it gives people a month to replace. We’ve got a good, healthy compensation package coming in, which more than enough compensates for any compensation package we’ve got that we might need to pay out, if it’s another manager at another club.

“That’s still money, so if we have to pay somebody X amount then he’s got to be X amount better than somebody who isn’t attached to a club.

Maybe he was just sloppy with his wording or even momentarily forgot there is no break in leagues 1 and 2. Because if we’re looking at managers and coaches in work or free agents, I can’t see any managers currently at a premier league or championship club leaving that to come to Luton. Mark Robbins might be the one possible exception but he probably falls into the ‘been around the block’ category.

So a coach in prem I reckon ,we did well with Nathan but not Graeme ,I hope it doesn't turn out like Graeme .It seem to rule out Critchley then which is a shame .

Well, Critchley's last role was on the coaching side rather than as a manager... I think he fits the bill as he is a well-respected coach but has also proved that he can step up to management which reduces the risk (which paid off previously with NJ, but not with GJ). The question no-one seems to be asking is whether he actually wants the job, though? He preferred to be an assistant in the Premier League rather than a manager in the Championship, not so long ago. So he may not even be an option.

And I assume he is based in the North East. Not too bad commenting to Birmingham but a much bigger upheaval to come south

                      Upheaval?

Footballers spend their lives moving home up and down the country and even going to live and play abroad.

Critchley was unhappy with his playing budget for the new season at Blackpool, so he jumped at the chance of leaving. As good as his credentials are, he's not a good fit for us. I'd be staggered if 2020 appoint him.

The club are ideally looking for a young mananger and not someone who has been round the block a few times over. That instantly rules out the likes of Steve Bruce and Neil warnock thank the heavens
