    Huddersfield's three goals

Posted by College Hatter on 4/10/2022, 22:26:36

All resulted from corners which we failed to defend properly. So I think it was significant that our three tallest centre-backs, Burke, Bradley and Osho were missing tonight.

Think we have to look behind them to our keeper who continues to cost us goals with his reluctance to move from his line. Third goal was diabolical. He comes for those then teams will stop landing all the corners on his head as they have been doing. Worse keeper in a town shirt for quite some time.

        Get a ####ing grip.

        And it's worst.

‘Worst goalkeeper’ bit was definitely way off the mark; however he doesn’t strike me as being particularly impressive. He is very reluctant to come off his line for through balls, or to claim/punch set pieces and crosses. He was rooted to the goal line for their third, when he was unopposed, and it was clipped into the six yard box.

He doesn’t seem to take pressure off the defenders, which is a mark of a good goalkeeper.

I've not been hugely impressed either to be honest, but he's not even the worst keeper we've had this season, never mind "for ages". The OP must also have a goldfish like memory, or only have started watching games recently.

Think the OP is guilty of throwing a flounce, like a lot of people on here/ social media when we have a disappointing result.

To be honest, Steer aside, I think the goalkeeper position is the one area we’ve been treading water with under Jones tenure. Hope Hovrath improves, but twelve games in, you would expect to see him a lot more confident and dominant by now, if it was simply a case of getting up to speed with the new environment. His shot stopping is also questionable, as he’s been beaten from distance a few times this season already.

Made the same comments 2 weeks ago. Not just corners though. That horrid first goal we conceded I think against Coventry. The simple punt forward with Potts dawdling.
The strikers first contact with that was only about 5 yards outside the box.
He never left his line. With better positioning it would have only meant a simple one, two strides out of the box, and boot into the stand.

Completely agree with all of that. I’ve reserved judgement until now, although after 12 games, he’s been given a fair crack of the whip.

He doesn’t inspire me with any confidence at all. The third goal he was unopposed, whilst the ball was whipped into his six yard box. A commanding goalkeeper can take so much pressure of the defence, and this lad doesn’t fit the criteria.

You didn’t watch the Newport game !
Of the fit keepers Istead is probably the best.
                  Shea get fit quickly please

Disappointing really, could have done with the three points, we have a tricky looking run of games coming up

But it was probably the right 3 available cb`s to start with. Without the benefit of hindsight. And attacking stats were somewhat insane for a draw (mind you if you concede 3 they need to be!). More positives than negatives tonight.

Burke is an obvious miss, but how many corners have defended properly without Osho and Bradley in the team. Quite a lot I suspect.

There is truth in that although I always found Bradley suspect at set pieces at times. There's no need to panic though as we were excellent going forward and besides Huddersfield have always been barstuds to play against. I wish we had Sorba Thomas though!
