    Well done Outsider

    On completing the London Marathon.
How are you feeling today? Ready to go again in the 2023 one? Only 6 months to go!

I feel fine today - I can honestly say that today I wouldn't know that I had run yesterday - touch wood that it stays that way.

It was a nightmare day all round - got to Bedford station before 6 am but didn't reach Blackheath until 10.35. I got cramp after nine miles (I think that this could have been connected to the rushing to get to the start line without the chance to prepare properly). After 17 miles, my back started playing up (I had probably been over compensating for the cramp) and I had to walk the last nine miles. It was very tough going but I got round eventually.

My entry for April went in on Saturday.

Well done to Robson O'Reardon, Raj Koyes and any other Hatters who completed it.

Ahh shame I didn’t know you were running as spent several hours cheering yesterday both sides of the highway outside St kats Docks .
Fantastic atmosphere and good to feel that we can do some things well in this country .
What time did you do ?

Took me almost 8 hours. I was 3.17 at half way but was really suffering with my back in the last 9 miles. About an hour and a quarter slower than my previous worst time.

At 66 years old and 18 and a half stone with virtually no training I was just happy to get round even without the problems.

Two treadmill runs, a fast walk and six runs this year. I was talking to someone on ghe train who was doing his seventh marathon in a week. That's more in a week than I have done this year.

            Fantastic effort….. well done you.
When you stand at the @ 22 miles it’s amazing the difference in how the runners are doing as they come past . They have achieved the same time / distance at that stage ….some look broken and others look like they are out for a Morning jog.
My daughters friend ran past us with a cheery wave , completed in 3:18 and frankly looked like she could do it again. Another friend cramped at 18 miles and dragged himself round for the next 6 miles …was on for completing under 4 did 4:37 …it can be cruel but everyone who does it is a winner . Brilliant day .

As I had entered the virtual marathon before getting a place in the actual one, I started the official virtual marathon app as I crossed the start line. This showed that I completed 26.2 miles in 7.04. My Garmin shows that on the actual course, I did 27.53 miles, (an extra one and a third miles).
