    That was cringeworthy

Yep, but what’s worse is the fact that the BBC felt they ought to show disabilities.
Talk about Cringeworthy, but the whole Ellie Simmons inclusions smacks of Wokeism gone to stupid levels.

Fair play to the girl, but really?

It’s made the whole show a travesty, talk about the sympathy vote!

So there’s Craig Revell …. talking to other contestants about “ keeping straight lines” and “ tucking your backside in”…… yeah I’m sure that will happen.

Bottom line is she was a Gold Medal Paralympian….. she did not compete in the main Olympics!
      Bit of a clue there?

Not that I watch it anyway

Are you suggesting that just because she has a growth-limiting condition she's not able to participate in an activity that is more about movement and following music than the relative heights of the participants?

And your suggestion of "going for the sympathy vote" is despicable.

It's not actually. It's why they have the Olympics and the Paralympics. It is meant to be a dance competition after all. But clearly not anymore. It's now just another example of the BBC losing the plot.

So are you saying that dancing is not about moving in time to music, and that therefore she shouldn't attempt to dance?

Why? It was strongly worded and emotive, but what was actually wrong with it?

If that post was made 10 or 20 years ago on here, I bet most people would have agreed.

These days, we aren't 'allowed'to conduct ourselves with the same freedom of expression so the only people that dare post are the ones having a go. I think that shows how conditioned/controlled we've become.

And, no, I don't think it's because we have become more evolved or have become better people. You can see that, for example, with the vitriol that fellow hatters talk to each other with on here.

Freedom of expression? People can say what they want, and other people are free to react to what they've said as they want. In this instance, most seem to think what RD/RF has said is out of order. Why shouldn't they be 'allowed'* to say that?

There are things which have become taboo of course: as discussed below the 'n' word is one. But this whole thing about 'not being allowed' seems to come largely from racist misogynist types (for clarity I am not accusing you of being either).

It's part of another agenda entirely but that's maybe for another time.

I think many people feel like they're not allowed to say or do many things anymore that we used to to freely. Most of these rules are unwritten but they seem to be just as effective.

Censorship, self-censorship, both very powerful and effective. I didn't feel comfortable making my post because of this social conditioning, but I did post it. Can't prove it, of course, but I expect there were others who felt similarly that were afraid to say how they felt.

Surely this 'not allowed' nonsense is largely generated by the likes of the Daily Mail and their false stories? (Akin to the perrenial lies about Christmas being 'cancelled' by councils).

There are of course horrendous pressure groups like the ones pursuing JK Rowling etc but we should no more cede ground (physical or existential) to them than to lunatic fringe religious or political groups.

Our liberal democracy is endangered by giving the likes of them the time of day.

Nothing , but you miss my point.

By all means show disabilities, but in the right format, and to me Strictly is not, ( and hardly fair on the able bodied contestants.

And what boils my piss is the fact that the BBC feel they have to do this!
