    National Insurance

Posted by Ramridge Raider on 24/9/2022, 17:10:22

Rarely do I post about politics but Truss decision to reverse the NI increase is completely despicable.

If you are not aware the increase in NI was one of the only ways to bridge the funding gap in social care. The increase in NI would have brought in an additional £8 billion per year. Not enough to cope with current care needs, but at least there was recognition that something needed to be done.

Truss has undone the good work that has been done by so many people over a long period of time, simply to win the next election.

Despicable politician with absolutely no morales.

And I'm probably just about right of centre.

        Absolute nonsensense.

It was a good plan albeit with flaws. Truss is purely and simply trying to buy votes.

I sincerley hope the electorate see through this.

so you are 'right of centre' but are hoping that a Labour, or worse a Labour/SNP coalition, gets elected. You haven't thought this through have you?

What dont you get dopey bollocks. Truss is hard right, Starmer is pretty central.

            Fairly obvious pal.

Like most of the issues in this country , they’ve all been neglected and ignored by successive governments of both parties and kicked down the road for someone else to deal with.

Has the social care plan been cancelled though, was talking about this earlier. I know the NI has been revoked but have they actually u turned on the plan.
It wasn't the greatest plan but it was better than what was in place.

The only social care plan was the increase in NI.

                    There is no plan B.

Have you actually read the plan is scrapped or are you assuming it's scrapped because of the u turn on NI.

Not being awkward or pedantic it's just no one has confirmed the plan is no longer on the table as far as I have seen.

Obviously I am at an age where these things are becoming more important.

The increase of NI by 1.75% was purely to fund the social care fund. Numerous governments have ignored the timebomb of an increasingly elderly population.

Truss has simply kicked it in the long grass and hoping someone else will pick up the problem.

As I said before, there is no plan B to support elderly care.
