Just come back and read your question about how you would create 171 1m winners. It's a good point but it was illustrative really. But I looked recently at the prize distribution.
    The winner got 171,815,297.80
Then the next winners got 93,099.60
    Then 24,867.30
    695.10
    Down to piddly amounts.

My point really is to make much less of a differential between the amount of balls matched. Better for far more people I would suggest.

Never understood why one person gets the lot-not sure on the maths but im sure an equation could be found to say pay out to other players after capping the win at say 50 million.

It could be done in the way that "must be won jackpots" roll down to lower levels. The other point that I was making is that more people play Euromillions when the jackpot is 150 million than when it is 50 million.

          Yep.

And I've just discovered that Christian Aid's total income for 2021 was 86.4m! About half of that jackpot win! And when you think of how much good that that charity does (irrespective of any faith belief) it puts into some perspective the nonsensical value of such a huge win. And how much good that sum of money could do in the right hands.

So sad to hear it destroying lives.

Incidentally, the reason why I'm banging on about it is because I'm working on my sermon today for tomorrow and the lectionary reading is from 1 Timothy 6 which includes the often misquoted verse 10:
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. Would not want to win as it would change you. Read an article about lottery winners and they'd mainly all got plastic surgery after winning. Sums it up.
