    Swansea 1981 away

    Posted by LU7 Hatter on 23/9/2022, 12:52:26

First post so expect the usual first time greetings (have been a non-posting reader for quite some time).
I watched the Tosh documentary on Prime this week, it mentions a game at the Vetch Field against Luton on a Monday night. Is described as the best game ever at the Vetch Field. Any posters have memories of this match? Don't remember it as was only 8 yrs old at the time.

    Be gentle.

Goal by Antic wrongly disallowed for offside.

Original game postponed after we got to the ground.

Was the original game called off because of heavy rain? If so, I was there. The rain was horizontal I seem to recall.

Got my picture in a subsequent programme, showing the Excelsior Travel group arriving at the station. The club thanked us for our support since, as Outsider says, the game was still on at 13.00. However, by the time we had walked to the ground, having got soaked, it had been called off.

It was in the days before mobile phones. We were on the way back home when we saw the team coach coming the other way and informed them that the game was off.

27th April, Luton 2 down at one point. It was on the radio as you say and a Luton fan got to the commentators area and was chanting Ricky Hill's name after he equalised. Very audibly! Remember it well.

And I imagine you weren't there either. Too far for your carer to take you.
