    The Russian nut job

The key could well be China. Without their trade Russia is primarily just left with India buying their oil. Perhaps it is time for a boycott of Chinese products to force them off the fence?

      Why is Russia in Ukraine?

Because Putin wants to resurrect the Russian Empire with him in charge.

Before 24 February China and Russia had a "no limits" alliance. Xi didn't have a meeting with Putin at last weeks Samarkand conference - a huge indication of how China feels about the war in Ukraine. As for India, well, no change there - looking both ways and looking after India alone.

I wouldnt read to much into that as they meet regularly and Xi probably doesnt want to be seen publicly meeting/endorsing him. Behind closed doors is a different matter.
BRICS (Brazil, Russia, China, India, South Africa) alliance is a massive threat to the west and their main aim is to take the dollar down.
All the above could be wrong.

Not doing too well with the dollar bit.

It will take time mate and certainly won't happen with rampant inflation, but give it a few decades maybe and will be in trouble.

Agreed but nut job mobilising those who havenít left the country indicates that perhaps China could do a lot more.

I think once those conscripted this week start coming back in body bags Putin's issue will be domestically. Can he really suppress all the protests?

I doubt the Russian public will see or be told of any casualties, but agree it will be the public turning that ends him. I imagine his inner circle will see how it's going and look after their own interests.

Just an opinion, I'm certainly no expert - but the Russians (and many others) have regularly concealed their losses.

There will be people digging up bodies in woods sometime in the future...

                  Yep, I completely agree.

They'll replace him with another nutter. Unfortunately, there are plenty of other people in those circles with a similar ideology to Putin

The protests have been picked up on by Western media but they are very small and half hearted. The vast majority of Russians are poorly educated, ill informed cattle who just go along wth what Putin says - if there was a vodka shortage then things might be different. The public also fear the punishments.

The mobilisation has been well supported and 305k have been taken to "training" already. A leaked document calls this the first wave so more are to come - a million maybe in total.

Probably because it appears he's only sending the non white Russians to war, those from Dagestan, Chechnya etc.

These extra men, poorly trained and lacking proper equipment and supplies, won't suddenly give them air superiority, they won't be able to stop HIMARS and will only worsen the appalling morale and leadership.

Just a desperate ploy from someone backed into a corner.

Have you seen any of the 1420 stuff on youtube?

Someone goes around Russian cities taking people's views. Seems a cross section of "patriots", others who very quietly oppose Putin but are terrified of doing anything and a good portion who just want a quiet life and the craziness to stop. Strangely, those most keen on sending in more troops are too old to serve and don't have family members eligible for being mobilised...

Putin is not for turning and is making snap decisions without considering the consequences. He has no off ramp apart from victory - which will never happen. Diplomatically no one can do anything to persuade him otherwise - China has stepped back and are quite cold towards Putin and even North Korea have abandoned him.
