Closing Beech path and blocking exit via main stand.

Posted by Whhatter on 4/8/2022, 19:59:12

I sit it the Kenilworth. Went to do my normal on Saturday and started walking round during stoppage time to the main stand to make a quicker route back to the car and apparently they have blocked fans from the Kenny end using that route now. So not only do they block Beech path but what about fans using using bus service???

One bloke I know, breeched the blockade to be confronted by a steward at the second line of defence...the steward tried to hold him back but was put to one side...nothing much happened but we followed him and so did the steward shouting 'serious assault' and 'whats your season ticket number'...they were having a chat about it as I walked past, not sure of the outcome but by the way the steward was carrying on it looked like he was trying to get the individual banned...

it is disgusting behaviour the way the police have been treating football fans in Luton

This is actually a nightmare for those of us (disabled) who hang back.

Also - there was one absolute obnoxious loudmouth threatening the stewards on Saturday who was totally out of line.

The club have told me in person that even if beech path is shut THEY MUST let disabled supporters through. I am a disabled supporter of the club aswell

What about the reverse journey? I heard complaints post-match from other Oak Roaders who usually cut through the main stand to Kenilworth Road who were blocked because of the ground changes.

                Thanks.

Like I said, they can't have it both ways. It would be a struggle for supporters with less mobility and whom get the bus.

they have shut the little gate but I just go round and through the main stand to catch the bus.

at the end of last season, the steward would not let me go through the main stand, I politely asked him how I could get to the bus stop to catch my bus, and he eventually decided I could carry on through the main stand.

First time I can remember queueing/shuffling
along under the MS to get out of the ground at KR
end. Even once out of the gate it was really
slow getting across the Ďaproní. Didnít enjoy it
                        at all

Agreed, though strangely getting through the enclosure was much easier than before

Want to add to that. Sit in the Enclosure and was a real nightmare getting out the Kenilworth End. I take point of people in Kenny stand, but those in Main stand also need to be able to get out the ground too! Was trapped on Saturday by people heading in both directions.

People were allowed through from the Kenilworth, through the Main Stand under the DPS, but only after the majority of fans had exited the latter.

That's not true. I'm at Kenny end of enclosure under the DP stand, so at the front of the que, so to speak. By time walking a dozen steps to concourse already rammed by fans heading in both directions. Took ages just to get on concourse and then a real squeeze. Never known it like that before, including sell outs such a splay off semi. Something clearly didn't work last Saturday and it needs to be sorted before something goes wrong.

after evening games the Leighton Buzzard bus leaves the bus stop at 10.00 pm, for fans that are in the Kenny end it would be a struggle to walk all the way round the ground via bury park road to arrive at the bus stop in time to catch the bus.

That would be almost impossible for evening games it is bad enough on Saturday getting on the LB bus from the DP stand. It is often packed with fans who just go one or two stops along the busway and can't be arsed to walk.
