Great move by the club to send him back to Grimsby for the season. Looked quality playing in the conference, but a full season in league 2 against better defenders is the rational next step for his development.

It’s definitely not £500k as an initial sum. Possibly with future add-ons, but it’s widely reported to be in and around £250k.

If that is the case - in my opinion, it is poor business from us.
There are other areas of the pitch that need to be strengthened.
It is taking a chunk out of the budget (maybe we won’t pay a fee until next season?). He isn’t a development player any more.
If he doesn’t show up in L2, we are stuck with him and have committed a huge fee without needing him.

Probably up to half million based on appearances, goals, sell on etc. The local rag is highly likely to be positive to their own team rather than devalue him. I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you.
