    Just seen the lionesses singing

When they invaded the press conference and it occurs to me that part of their success was the absolute joy they had in playing for and winning with England, something the men could perhaps learn from

I don't like Southgate's caution or his lack of game management skills, but undoubtedly he created an environment that made representing England much more enjoyable for the players.

Previously it seems playing for England was a chore but that has changed under Southgate.

Mind you, many more performances like Hungary and we may revert back to the bad old days.

Can't we just enjoy what they achieved without using it to aim pointless cheap shots at the men's team?

They've done something fantastic, let's just value the moment.

That said, of course now that they have done it they will face more media and public scrutiny and criticism when things go wrong, they will be getting a bit more of the pressure that the men routinely get. Our media love to build them up and knock them down so let's just enjoy it while the good times do last.

i was in the fanzone before game.

Main comparison is off the pitch. No need to compare on the pitch, but compared to the scenes at last year's men's final. it was great to see both sets of fans mixing and parents not anxious about taking their kids to a game.

No 10 German Bombers or flying plastic chairs, sometimes people forget not everyone enjoys the edge of potential violence anytime around a game.

It's probably a bit like going to an American football I guess in terms of the experience. But then the majority of people who enjoy the threat of potential violence at football are probably middle-aged blokes so men's football will eventually start heading the same way in all likelihood.

I do think a bit of edge does no harm, it's what marks Kenilworth Road out from most grounds these days

Agree but some families are not bothered about there being an edge.

Them girlies know how to enjoy themselves and how to celebrate.

That said, hope we never see Harry Kane whipping off his shorts and running off to celebrate a goal in his Y fronts.

Stop comparing the mens game to the womens. Its doing my ####in nut in.

I get's on my tits as well but the women are probably the worst at doing this.

Karen Carney on co-commentary comparing Leah Williamson to Maldini as an example.

Then there's the media bitching about how little they get paid compared to men. That will improve as TV ratings and crowds increase but they just don't generate the same level of funding as the mens game attracts.

the blokes didnt win (unfortunately) so youre comparing the uncomparable (AGAIN).

yesterday was a normal day in england, i didnt even hear anyone (apart from ken bruce on radio2) mention it.

if and when the chaps win a tournament the country will come to a stand still.

Not sure it actually would. Maybe if we won the World Cup.

If England had beaten Italy on pens last year quite a few people would have called in sick and the rest of the country would go to work as normal (if they hadn't booked day off0.

Majority of the people in the country did not watch England v Italy or Sunday's game.

I dont "know" and I actually think under Southgate the players seem slightly more relaxed than in previous regimes, but the sheer joy of representing their country doesnt always seem to be there with the men, probably due to the pressure they feel they are under from our media.... and yes obviously winning makes a difference to how you celebrate, but I cant see the guys invading a press conference singing footballs coming home even after victory (if it ever happens)

We won't win a major tournament because we are simply not good enough.

Or maybe just maybe the men have to face stiffer competition which makes it a much harder task.

However much the women's game has improved there is simply not the depth of competition which makes the challenge a little bit easier.
