93 per cent approval rating Autumn 97.

Pretty hight considering the number of people who 'never liked or trusted him.'

Even by then had already implemented minimum wage, something which no Tory govt. ever would have done.

I've watched the full series and he cannot pit up any reasoned argument for the Iraq war, apart from solidarity with the US.

Shame as his work to sort out N. Ireland was pure political genius.

However, his legacy will always be the Iraq war.

Perhaps they were working with some of the worst scientific advice in the world. It was the scientists that told them there was no asymptomatic spread which formed the basis of the early response.

The truth is we will not know for years how much they got right and how much they got wrong, this still has a long way to play out yet. It will be interesting to see how Australia goes now they are opening up again.

We could all see what was going on in Italy and Spain, just for two examples.

bozo didn't lockdown because he'd already trashed our economy by 'getting brexit done' and the only way back out of that is by letting everyone trash theirs by locking down and us not.

                    These are simple facts.

I don't say so the evidence says so. It was scientific advice in the early days that told the government that the virus could not spread from asymptomatic people. This is what led to the mass evacuation from Hospitals to Care Homes as there was no clear understanding of how it spread.

I am not absolving the government of blame, they should definitely have been more challenging in regard to the information they were given.

Up until 2015 I never voted for anyone other than Labour in any elections, now voting green. Sorry that I am not as educated as your goodself and made a grammatical mistake, that comes from my council estate upbringing and skipping school to go to work from the age of 14.

Okay, my lifelong Labour Party supporting friend. The Conservative government chose to look at what they wanted to look at. They were late to introduce any meaningful measure, went ahead with mass gatherings when the scientific evidence was there for all to see (who wanted to see it): Liverpool vs Athletico Madrid was a classic example. Madrid was in lockdown at the time. Cheltenham races was another example. Don't defend the indefensible, you're better than that.

I was also born to a family living on a council estate, btw. So what.

Now now M, I worked in a office for many years and have always considered myself working class, someone who skipped school to kill chickens cannot be anything bit working class.

My children however are a different matter. Both University educated, one works in a hotel as Front of House staff and the other is a trainee teacher who is adamant that she is working class but I cannot agree.

Council estate is just a bit of humour.

I know this government has made plenty of mistakes and need to be held to account but like most things in life nothing is black and white. For instance we locked down far early than Italy in regard to the number of cases in the community.

I was still able to travel to Northern Italy In Mid March followed by travelling to Spain 2 days after my return, they did not act that much quicker than us.

I also firmly believe, based on my daughter living in Barcelona, that Spain for instance have been far from truthful on the coronavirus impact for them.

The report from the MP's indicate that it was on the advice of SAGE that initially a herd immunity plan was followed.

                              Vote Green.

They did not have benefit of the experience of other countries situated almost right next to them - like we did with, erm, Italy and Spain.

and in terms of case numbers we acted far sooner than both, as I have said in a previous post I visited Northern Italy and Barcelona in mid march so they were not that much ahead of us. I was actually in Spain when they announced Lockdown which was only a week ahead of us.

People talk about events like Cheltenham but the only reason I didn't go to Cheltenham for my Nephews stag do was because I was in Barcelona.

By Gold Cup Day it was obvious there was a problem but tbh by then everyone was already in Cheltenham and would have just gone to pub for the day, making things worse than being on an outdoor racecourse.

On 17 March, NHS England and NHS Improvement wrote to trusts telling them to “expand critical care capacity to the maximum” by freeing up beds. This was to ensure the NHS had the capacity it needed to treat Covid-19 patients in the coming weeks and months.

To that end, trusts were told to postpone all non-urgent operations and to “urgently discharge all hospital inpatients who are medically fit to leave.” This included some inpatients who would then be discharged to a care home.

But he mislead Parliament and the country and of course then theres David Kelly.

I think the Tories often forget how grateful they should be for what happened, back then. After all, when he saw how effective a sexed-up dossier could be, it inspired Boris to be who he has become. Although of course, he mis-heard it as "sexed-up dosser"...

Not saying he didn't but he did manage not to lie every single time he opened his mouth, unlike the current incumbent who most people seem to love.

It was a pretty important lie and frankly if your son/daughter had been injured or killed you might not be quite so glib about it .
Wasn’t the anti war march against Iraq the biggest this country has ever seen ?
