    B teams and Carabo cup

Good to see Pep has been told to pretty much shove the B team idea up his arse (and would anyone benefit from Luke Bolton playing week in week out?)

The Carabo cup idea is workable though - well if it excludes those in europe (and includes a european place). No one championship upwards takes it seriously in the early rounds anyway - but may do more if they had a serious chance of winning it

Sorry if this is a silly question...
What was the thinking of the EFL when the Premier League was formed with regards to the League Cup? Looking back it seems absurd that non-EFL teams are in the competition. If it was a true football league cup then it should only be for teams in Championship, L1 and L2.
Was it that top flight teams were always part of the league cup so they will continue? Was the fact that it offered a European place and a Wembley final means that there's a bit of glamour for the EFL?

I agree. It's ridiculous that very few actual League clubs (if any, can't be @rsed to look it up) have won it since 1992.

I suppose the thinking may have been that it wouldn't be so attractive to the armchair viewer.

The prem probably said that they want to stay in it, and if the FL wanted promotion and relegation they`d have to tow the line .

It would make sense to have it FL teams only - that way you have the JPT (or whatever its called now) for l1 and l2 clubs, the league cup for championship teams, and FA cup for prem teams, the uefa for prem teams not quite good enough for the CL and the Champions league for the top 4
