I bet though they don't have to drive anti-clockwise around the M25 to avoid Watford.

Based on the season so far, away numbers are way down. I think that there are a number of factors including concerns about Covid, peopleís finances being affected by Covid, people getting out of the habit of going and others who have got used to watching on iFollow or red button. I think that midweek attendances will be affected most especially where there are two away games within a few days.

Accumulation of a few things I think. Those feared of covid, prices of trains, some of the glory hunters have drifted away again and the fixtures so far dont really appeal to some I suppose. Blackburn and Barnsley aren't the most exciting places to visit.
Numbers will pick up for the southern games.

Real fans will be in Bristol on Wednesday, a haven for good beer. Glory hunting northern fans will be at home drinking shite beer.

As for Blackburn, yes not a great place but there was another little town just down the road where sensible people went.

Ha!! If you're on about Darwen, we did that last time we played up there chum. Did your daughter enjoy her day? (Despite having to put up with you all day)

She enjoyed yes apart from the train between home and Manchester. Both journeys were packed, going there fore loads of festival goer's wearing very little clothing and coming back drunken Man U fans giving it large.

I was sat with a Newport fan and a Shrewsbury fan who both gave some shit to some United youngsters who were clearly glory hunters from South Wales.

Yeah I think you're spot on with your assessment there. There might be a little bit of a tightening-belts thing after summer holidays and the expense they incur too

I reckon we'll only take 500 on Wednesday

Still slightly disappointed we didn't reach the 2,000 mark at WBA, though, but I can't talk as I didn't go either

As you suggest, who the fukk wants to make a day of it in Blackburn?

To be fair, a group of us went Saturday and had a giggle but Blackburn doesn't offer anything special. A very bleak, miserable place at the best of times and Barnsley on a Tuesday night similar.

I also think that both Blackburn and Bristol City aren't exactly just half an hour down the road away games either. In fact our closest away game so far has been WBA which is still and hour and a half away but we had reasonable numbers there.

Hopefully, the London games and East Midlands fixtures will bring up the numbers. I've still not been to a game this season.

Coach bookings for all of the away games have been way down on the same fixtures two years ago. Haven't checked the figures but I suspect that the same applies to our followings at all away games so far.

West Brom was first away league game with fans for 17 months so I would have expected us to completely sell our allocation.

i think the train fares have stopped me from attending away games. it used to be cheaper fares at weekends but now a lot of fares are weekday pricing. i guess the train companies are trying to recoup money lost during the pandemic. someone said about the london games but there are no direct trains to or through London from Luton at weekends.
