Looking at the squad we have got now I donít think we need anyone. |
Even people like Kyle Edwards who was linked previously and would be a good addition for most championship teams isnít needed.
I donít think think we need anyone in any position unless they are going to significantly improve the team now as what we have is as good as whatís out there unless weíre taking a top 3 player from another team.
Most of the squads on long contracts- all we need to do is extend slugas contract this summer. Then we can afford to focus on one or two positions a year to improve at least for the next 3 years.
The new squad has at least 3 years together unless thereís silly money transfer bids that will be strengthened each window.
Considering we were 12th last year we should get in the playoffs at least once in the next three years.

I think several of the signings may be with an eye on next season and having our own replacements ready made for anyone who gets sold or end of contract . |
I am happy with our signings and like most supporters at any club I always have renewed optimism at the start of a new season.
However Muskwe has only played 18 (?)professional games .
Itís a big step up for CMG .
Elijah was excellent when he came in and hopefully that can continue .
Osho and Kioso did ok on loan but both their respective teams were relegated so again itís quite a big step up for them .
Campbell has played Scottish Prem so step up or step down ?.
Fred ,Burke,Lansbury and Jerome have experience at the level.
Hopefully we see more of Morrell and he has a big impact .
Itís a long hard season and I expect the core will be made up of familiar faces .That will allow the new boys to bed in and I think Nathan and staff will manage them carefully and of course thereíll be injuries ,suspensions and cup matches to cover .

But think CMG or Campbell have a breakthrough season. Realistically if Campbell had a longer contract he would have been £2mil + and if CMG did a league one season the same. Both risks but CMG youth at Atletico means he has pedigree. The difference between youth players at elite level and the rest is a massive head start. Obviously itís all to do but in terms of potential but the risk has a significant upside.
The other lads who have championship experience compliments what we have.
Ade has shown he can deal with the level.
Admiral is a high potential player who has the potential to do well.
Overall we have 5-6 players who could be worth over £10mil+ and if they have the right attitude should improve.
We were the highest scorers along with man city etc at one point in league two and we have the players to do it again this season. That is not something we could have said last srason.

Of equal interest is who is shipped out - whether transfer or loan. The squad is larger than numbers allowed to be named. Aside from a couple of youngsters surely NJ is explaining to 3 or 4 their opportunities will be very limited |
/ non existent. For me feel Danny Hiylton, Glen Rea, Luke Berry have gone as far as they can go at this level, and should be wished au revoir with grateful thanks.

I'd be upset to see Rea leave, he's still a fantastic ball winner at this level and if we're holding onto a lead I can't think of many better players to bring on. |
I also still like Luke Berry at this level and didn't he just sign a new deal?
I'd imagine it'll be Hylton off for the season/permanent with Osho & Kioso heading to league 1 til Christmas.

I don't see Kioso leaving, he will be healthy competition for Bree for sure. Agreed on Hylton, wouldn't be surprised to see Osho sold.|

Any final placing outside the bottom 5 is absolutely fine by me- being a realist rather than optimist.|

Completely agree, however over three years my expectations are playoffs. |
If not we will need to reshuffle.
Rea - can do a job and is definitely part of the squad.
Berry - his stats are better than pelly a on practically all areas. Considering moncur was allowed to leave given his stats thereís obviously a bit more to it. Berry was a certain starter for the first half of the year and Iíd expect at least half a season from him - does as much work as pelly defensively but offer ten fold the attacking output. Not a lot would agree but the stats would say other wise.
