Are you sure NAG? I seem to remember 8 for an old penny, 4 for a half-penny, so 2 for a farthing. Or am I mis-remembering?

Crumbs. You must be older than Crumps!

I can remember going into Greens in Hockwell Ring with a penny and getting two of each.

I can remember selling kisses for sweets to one of the girls at Leagrave Infants, my days as a gigolo were brief and long ago!

My parents didn't believe in pocket money, but my grandparents send a farthing a week for each of us! Blissfully happy and innocent days.

When I lived in Edinburgh as a youngster you could buy a 'penny dainty ' which was in effect a mouth sized slab of toffee. You put it in your mouth until it was soft enough to chew, then chewed it until your jaws ached. Happy days - no teeth these days - l wonder why.

There used to be a lovely sweet shop at the end of Woburn Sands, on the road out to Woburn. Used to go in after a trip to the dentist. I canít remember itís name.

Four for a penny on Dallow Rd in sweet shop opposite the rec in the 1960s. Fruit salad was always the winner.
