Last night absolutely proved the Glen Rea is not up to it

I have always thought that he was one of the most average players I've seen play for us in a long time. The only thing he does well is get in the way of the opposition. He can't tackle and his passing is atrocious. How the hell he has played so many games for us is beyond me. I really hop eJones has seen enough to dip him at last.

Last night proved Glen rea can have poor games.

Have you noticed that when he has a poor game we tend to lose and the team have an off day?

Equally when we have a dominant performance a lot of it is due to his tenacity in midfield.

And as mentioned below - our form picked up when he came back into the side last year.

OK still a mystery over what Morrell does to deserve being dropped from the squad. I tend to think that he would bring more even as a sub that say tunnificliffe.

Unfortunately Rea is one of the few players in our team who could possibly score a goal.

          Moncur is the other.

They both need to play for that reason alone.

Collins/Cornick/Hylton/Nombe aren't getting close to scoring.

I haven't got any to hand but some of these football stat sites on Twitter have Glen as top performer across a number of attributes, which would suggest he's up there with the best in this league. JJ and Jack Stacey were shown in the same regard a couple of years ago.

Balls. Rea coming back from injury was a major reason we stayed up last season, or didnít you watch Lutonís games post-lockdown?
Yes, Rea has had a couple of bad games and was at fault for QPRís second goal. But heís been the solid anchorman behind half our wins this season.

              +1

A player can be good enough, but off form for a short while.

As for "The only thing he does well is get in the way of the opposition" in the OP - that's exactly what we were crying out for when he was missing last season, someone to shield the defence!

His absence or presence more or less defined our season last year.

Some people just feel the need to have a pop at random players after a poor performance - which last night most certainly was.

I agree with you regarding the impact of Rea's return last season.

However I think it's evident that he has been struggling for quite a few games now. Quite why is a difficult one. There was that curious injury earlier on in the season , Derby I think. Subbed at ht. Missed Watford away. Not sure what the explanation was.
