    Serious question

Posted by Brian Lewis on 17/10/2020, 8:55:13

Why did the K D-H loan deal go down to the wire? What happens that makes these things happen at the very last minute? We had been in the frame for this lad for weeks/months according to all sorts of media. Anyone got insights?

Hard to say but I believe Leicester wanted him to sign an extended contract before he signed on loan for us. Perhaps those negotiations took some time.

        It's dramatic !
Just to make it more dramatic, it's not really a 5pm deadline.

No inside knowledge here, but a couple of possible scenarios:

His parent club may have been waiting in case any of their midfielders got a medium- to long-term injury which meant they wanted him to stay as cover.

His parent club may have been waiting to see if they got a better offer from someone else (e.g. a higher proportion of wages paid, assuming that we aren't paying them in full).

He may have been waiting in case a club perceived to be bigger than us (e.g. an expected title/playoff contender) came in for him instead.

We're overtaking old adversaries like that that Lewis speedster from Stevenage. Leaving then far behind: Wrexham, Wimbledon (real ones), Fleetwood, Oxford, Stevenage, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Charlton...York
