    Transfer strategy.

Hoping that the club and Nathan trust the lads we already have (once those five sign) and any gambles we take in the transfer market are on young prospects or exciting lower league players who will take reasonable wages.

GJ wanted players that already had “Championship experience” when he came in, which was understandable, but we ended up with a few signings who had lost their way career wise, were injury prone or past their prime.

We now have a squad with champ experience so please no Chris Martin types. Hungry, inexpensive and wanting to make their mark is what we need. Our core squad can keep us up regardless.

If however a Sluga became available then obviously we should obviously go for it. I’m a huge fan, think he will prove an inspired signing and really believe that we will end up making a massive profit on him.

We tried to sign a young hungry full back from a L2 club last season but we couldn't match his wages and money is always going to be the overriding factor for most players.

Didn’t we recently sign a hungry lower league full back that NJ gave a debut to?

I just wonder if this was a case was simply logging an interest in the possibility that an administrator might be appointed and view this as a good deal?

Always take players on the way up and not down.

Ones on the way down/towards the end of their careers that have the right character are often invaluable.

Benson, Guttridge, McCormack, Sheehan to name a few!

It's easier to find unwanted Championship players to be good in a League 2 Luton team than to look good in a now championship Luton team.

Not necessarily, I remember many moons ago seeing in one of the sunday rags that a former England player whose name escapes me at the moment, was available for £2000, and I thought we should buy him and get the fans on track. We duly did sign him and gave an air of hope. He didn't play much but we swapped him for Keith Allen and got £2000 as well, good business.

Derek Kevan. Mind you, he did a good job at Stockport so everyone was a winner.

Ted Philips was at the same time as Derek Kevan.

Phillips made his last appearance for us in the 8-1 defeat at S####horpe in April 1965. Kevan didn't join until December 1966.

Remember seeing Kevan playing at Luton he was well past his best. He seems to have scored four League goals for us in eleven appearances. His last two were at home to Wrexham in February 1967.

Although, you do need to have some experience in there so an older, wiser head can be helpful (think McCormack) - just not a whole team full of them!
